Returning flat pack furniture

About a week ago I ordered a nest of tables from Next. I've just taken them out of the box and started assembling. They're fucking awful. They look so cheap and some of the veneer is already peeling away.

Their returns policy says they won't refund partially or fully-assembled furniture. So should I just de-assemble it and claim I never assembled it?

I think you should get your money back on the basis the stuff is defective. If the veneer is peeling away in the box, the furniture is crap.

Sling it back at them.

Yes, not satisfactory quality. Consumer Rights Act 2015.

That.

Their returns policy ain't relevant.

This is in respect of 'oh, I changed my mind' returns, not 'this is not up to standard' returns.

Citizens Advice is very helpful for this kind of thing

OK, there's an option on their website for them to call me. What shall I say? I need to word things carefully.

Take photos of the peeling veneer, etc., before making a claim.

If you look at the Citizens Advice website it provides suggested scripts/letters for asking for a refund/replacement.

#7 +1.

It's unsaleable so they probably won't bother collecting it.

Flicker - 13 Feb 2018 15:29:59 (#10 of 14)

Thanks MsC. I'll get them to call me now.

They're refunding and collecting. No argument. Relieved!

WibbleAgain - 13 Feb 2018 15:39:32 (#13 of 14)

Great.

They'll want to turn up at a really inconvenient time, you'll take the time off to stay at home and they won't turn up. I await thread updates.
