The getting rid of stuff / acquiring second hand stuff cheaply thread

Apart from the obvious ebay, I've been using an app called Trash Nothing which makes getting rid of spare stuff for free easy.

Any tips ? Experiences ??

As I suspected my bag of old fashioned incsndescent light bulbs was snapped up !

and what happened to all those bog rolls you've been storing ?

bossab2 - 22 Mar 2020 16:40:00 (#3 of 25)

My sensible collection of bog rolls is not for trading.

Being stuck at home does mean one finally gets around to that 'clear out' (I've been leaving items to be collected from the porch).

Donate to charity shops. Leave that paperback on the bus/train for a stranger to discover.

Put stuff in Amazon boxes and leave it in your garden for toerags to nick.

My local charity shops aren't currently accepting donations.

I'm in 3 different facebook selling / freecyle groups, and 2 of them have shut down in the last couple of days due to covid 19.

Gumtree?

tasselhoff - 23 Mar 2020 11:13:57 (#15 of 25)

Isn't there something called Freecycle? My sister bangs on about it constantly.

bossab2 - 23 Mar 2020 11:16:16 (#16 of 25)

The Trash Nothing app which I referred to in the header seems to interface with a number of freecycle groups - making the whole process very easy.

Facebook may have a local Buy & Sell group, useful because it doesn't involve travelling far.

The Next Door app also has the local benefit.

And you get to read about lost cats.

carterbrandon - 23 Mar 2020 11:50:36 (#19 of 25)

What sort of monster gloats about lost cats?

nemo75 - 23 Mar 2020 11:51:51 (#20 of 25)

The monster with rabbit roasting in the oven?
