Buying from the EU after sodding Brexit

There's a German audio interface I'm after that appears to be out of stock throughout the UK. I've found it at a German online shop for a competitive price that includes (German) VAT.

Am I going to be hit with extra charges upon delivery if I buy one? I'm utterly confused after this supreme act of national foot-shooting.

Judging by people getting hammered with £50 or £70 charges, I wouldn't take the risk. Wait until the UK resellers have it back in stock. Unless you have a friend in the EU planning to come here who can buy it and then bring over in their luggage,

Apparently purchases from Amazon and eBay should include ALL shipping and duty charges. I recommend that you double check this BEFORE you commit any purchase from the EU.

I got hit with customs duties on a guitar, and also express delivery meant 6 weeks.

Still, I'm sure all the massive benefits of Brexit will soon become apparent.

The German owner of the shop in question replied to my query saying he couldn't believe he was having to have these conversations with British customers - "how did it get to this?".

50% of the British population didn't read the small print.

Fisherman grumbling on the BBC Politics discussion. "I'm in the shit. Yes I voted for it. No I'm not sorry. It's just The Deal's fault."

The Government's idea of getting British people to eat spider crabs and other monsters of the deep "It's a start."

And the importance of restaurants. Remember them?

I recently ordered something from marketplace because it was out of stock on

The vendor sent it, but the Royal Mail tracking page showed "rejected by recipient", and indeed the parcel was returned to the sender. It looked from the tracking info as though the parcel had never left the UK.

The vendor acted surprised, sent it again, and the same thing happened again.

This time I asked if they'd forgotten to send a customs declaration or something, and they admitted that the same thing had happened with other overseas customers, apparently randomly, but said they didn't know why, because they did send a customs declaration and as far as they knew it was correct.

Last I heard they'd been unable to speak to an actual human being at Royal Mail to try and sort it out; they say Royal Mail don't care about small businesses like them, and it's practically impossible to communicate with them.

They duly refunded me, so it clearly wasn't a scam on their part.

I bought a hat from the Czech Republic. Took ages and got hammered with delivery charges.
