Recommend a Florist near Uckfield

As the header says really. My back of a fag packet dossier reckons there are a few wrongmos in that area.

I will be down that way next week for a funeral so am also looking for advice on changing from Euston to London Bridge.

Was hoping for a personal recommendation if possible wibbs. I have had some very disappointing blooms in the past.

But thanks

Euston to London Bridge - Fairly straightforward trip on the Northern line, although make sure you get the Bank branch, not the Charing Cross branch.

while often avoiding the Northern line makes sense, this is not one of those occasions, I would say, unless there's some other reason not to.

If you want to avoid the Tube, you could walk to St Pancras (follow the 'green route' signs to avoid the Euston Rd) and get a train from there, which would be considerably more pleasant, but considerably longer.

I appear to have an hour between connections. I guess I want the least stressful way.

If by least stressful, you mean the way that would get you there quickest with less fuss, then I would do the Northern line. If being crammed in a tin can underground with lots of other people is stressful for you, then the walk to St Pancras followed by train would do it. An hour should be plenty for that. What time of day will you be travelling?

There's a good florist in Oxted, where I live, near the station. It's on the Uckfield to London line.

If you have time the "Thameslink" trains from St Pancras to London Bridge are infinitely more pleasant than the Northern Line and have the benefit of getting you directly on to the mainline station platforms so it will be easier and quicker to get to your next train.

Check the timetable though as not all of the trains go to London Bridge and they are not as frequent as the tube (more like every 10 - 15 mins rather than every 1-2 mins).

Depending on how quick a walker you are I would allow at least 15/20 mins to walk from Euston to St Pancras as well.

So you suggest she gets off the train to buy flowers, then gets on the next train?

How about buying flowers at London Bridge?

Ginmonkey - 31 Aug 2021 13:00:51 (#12 of 26)

There's a Waitrose on Uckfield high st, they usually have pretty nice bunches of flowers, unless you want something bespoke made up.

What with all the Covid changes I am not entirely sure London Bridge station has a florist open at the moment. There is a little M&S that will sell a few bunches but mainly of the "sorry I forgot your birthday/ our anniversary" type.

There are some nice florists at Borough Market nearby but a hour change over from Euston will not allow time for that.

Ginmonkey - 31 Aug 2021 13:02:12 (#13 of 26)

Ooh hang on there is Igloo flowers in the new arcade between the underground and mainline stations but it looks pretty pricey.

I'm providing a personal recommendation as was specifically requested. Impact on travel arrangements was not within the parameters of the request.

Thanks all, the flowers (wreath) are for the funeral and I assumed that getting a florist to deliver would be more appropriate.

dreams99 - 31 Aug 2021 13:25:05 (#16 of 26)

Ah, if it's for delivery then a local funeral home could recommend a suitable florist.

pmcblonde - 31 Aug 2021 16:35:13 (#17 of 26)

If you know the funeral director ask them who is doing the flowers as it’s easier to have one florist delivering than several. Plus in organising Dad’s funeral the recommendation from the FD got me 10% off

Well I have made it to London Bridge. Thanks for all the advice

Ginmonkey - 06 Sep 2021 16:03:52 (#19 of 26)

Yay! Brilliant. Hope it goes as well as it can Pink.

All the best to you, pink x
