Winner Waverley Council’s Mark and Evette Moran Nib Literary Award for 2018...

... is a book by my aunt, about her dad (my granddad).

This is her first book, getting it published was a huge achievement, winning a prize is amazing.

Both a story about her dad's unique experiences in the Second World War as a cameraman in the Army Film Unit, and a meditation on the reliability of childhood memory, this is a wonderful book and I encourage people to read it.

I'm very proud of her, this was a labour of love over many years.

Well I think it sounds great.

I learned such rudiments as I learned of photography from an old war correspondent.

The book starts when she (my dad's younger sister), as a young child, finds some old photographs of Belsen, hidden in a box in her parents' wardrobe. The weird thing is, both my dad and his elder sister had the exact same experience, but they never talked about it with each other.
