Australians in India

Sigh. Just when we thought Australia had turned a corner after its radical purge and introduction of new blood...

We're back in Marshland. What on earth have these two guys got over Lehmann and the selectors? Mitchell Marsh and Shaun Marsh. Mediocrity in a twin-pack. Both have been tried and found mediocre. I despair.

Not just that but they are apparently going to drop Khawaja to play them... What on earth for? He was their best batsman along with Smith over the last year!

Moschops - 21 Feb 2017 12:39:05 (#2 of 48)

He was their best batsman along with Smith over the last year!

Surely Warner must feature in the 'best Oz batsman' list?

kalva44 - 21 Feb 2017 20:35:52 (#3 of 48)

Actually Warner didn't have such a good year overrall altho he scored a ton in the last Test and then one in Sydney in 2017

Moschops - 21 Feb 2017 20:45:00 (#4 of 48)

Warner is ranked 5 in the world, and he scored 5 runs fewer than Khawaja in 2016. Lower average, but he's opening.

kalva44 - 22 Feb 2017 01:46:43 (#5 of 48)

Warner's a top player...but Khawaja had a better year and it makes no sense that he is going to be dropped for Marsh!

ToyDivision - 22 Feb 2017 01:59:43 (#6 of 48)

Just read Chappelli's preview. Seems they are indeed considering dropping Khawaja. Madness. That's straight out of the England 90s selection drawer.

Will it matter though? India look to be very very good at home once again.

DugDug - 22 Feb 2017 14:06:33 (#7 of 48)

Yes, maybe not. But I don't hold out much hope for Australia if they keep picking the Marshes. Agree about Khawaja - not doing much for his confidence by dropping him. And Renshaw? Surely he's earned his place as an opener?

dreams99 - 22 Feb 2017 14:08:30 (#8 of 48)

Warner got something like 7 ODI centuries last year.

DugDug - 24 Feb 2017 01:03:19 (#9 of 48)

Shaun Marsh - 16Mitchell Marsh - 4

Mitchell Marsh - 19 Tests with a batting average of 23, a bowling average of 37.What gives?

kalva44 - 24 Feb 2017 05:28:32 (#10 of 48)

When your name is Marsh...

Pujara and Kohli out in the same over...Aussie pacers showing England how to bowl in India

ToyDivision - 24 Feb 2017 06:23:08 (#12 of 48)

If Aus win from here, I guess the selectors can tell everyone to eat their words. But it is completely unfathomable to me how either S or M Marsh, let alone both, are in the side ahead of Khawaja.

Aussie pacers showing England how to bowl in India

But a lot of the time England were taking two quick wickets like that, the problem was there was then a big partnership or two they couldn't break. We haven't seen what Australia can do in those circumstances.

kalva44 - 24 Feb 2017 07:32:41 (#14 of 48)

Well, India is 8/99 now!

cozzer - 24 Feb 2017 08:06:31 (#15 of 48)

OK, I'll give you that then.

SGM1A1 - 24 Feb 2017 08:33:00 (#16 of 48)

Shaun Marsh out for a duck in Australia's second innings.

Moschops - 24 Feb 2017 09:36:49 (#17 of 48)

Is Renshaw injured\ill? Opened (and top scored in) the first innings, batting at 5 in the second.

moonriver - 24 Feb 2017 09:38:40 (#18 of 48)

Upset stomach, shitting himself.

Moschops - 24 Feb 2017 09:46:00 (#19 of 48)

Ah, figured it might be something like that

Upset stomach, shitting himself.

So still getting the runs, but in a rather different way...
