ummm, don

nac1001 - 03 Dec 2020 11:15:23 (#2 of 70)

Don's the One

dreams99 - 03 Dec 2020 11:16:47 (#3 of 70)

Bradman.

Zymurgy1 - 03 Dec 2020 11:18:58 (#4 of 70)

Greg Chappell on Front Bar talking bats ... he says he always used Gray Nics but the scoop made batting so much easier with the distribution of weight being more forgiving.

Moschops - 03 Dec 2020 11:20:46 (#5 of 70)

Has to be Bradman. As Boycott would say, look at his averages

If I could choose to see any batsman in history facing any bowler, I think it would be Richards and Larwood though

Zymurgy1 - 03 Dec 2020 11:26:03 (#6 of 70)

Wonder how Bradman would go against Murali

fogger - 03 Dec 2020 11:35:47 (#7 of 70)

Eoin Morgan

fogger - 03 Dec 2020 11:40:03 (#8 of 70)

Oh, best ever?

Lara.

Zymurgy1 - 03 Dec 2020 11:40:17 (#9 of 70)

Don’t think don would be troubled by Eoin’s bowling

TheSwearingBear - 03 Dec 2020 11:47:17 (#10 of 70)

Purely for style and stroke play I can't go past Mark Waugh.

TheSwearingBear - 03 Dec 2020 11:49:21 (#11 of 70)

But I never saw Bradman play, and obviously by average he kills everyone.

Zymurgy1 - 03 Dec 2020 11:49:35 (#12 of 70)

Until he falls asleep (Mark W)

TheSwearingBear - 03 Dec 2020 11:52:11 (#13 of 70)

When he was awake he was very special.

Zymurgy1 - 03 Dec 2020 11:57:45 (#14 of 70)

I always preferred the grit of a Border or Steve W over the flair of a Mark W

TheSwearingBear - 03 Dec 2020 12:10:43 (#15 of 70)

Grit's good, but I like a bit of flair.

His cover drive was a work of art.

Zymurgy1 - 03 Dec 2020 12:53:01 (#16 of 70)

No arguing with that

TommyDCMBR8 - 03 Dec 2020 12:58:50 (#17 of 70)

Adam West

Zymurgy1 - 03 Dec 2020 13:15:42 (#18 of 70)

Heh

spirali - 03 Dec 2020 17:57:51 (#19 of 70)

Bradman is obviously the greatest. However I read the question as more who was your favourite, or maybe who meant the most to you. In which case it would be Viv. I’m prepared to believe there have been (slightly) better players in my lifetime: Tendulkar, Lara, Steve Smith, maybe Kohli. But I’ve never seen another player who radiated the same aura of the superhuman, who could so terrify the opposition and send a shiver of anticipation through the crowd merely by walking to the wicket. He was THE dominant presence in domestic and international cricket when I was growing up, nobody else came close, and I count myself incredibly lucky to have seen him as many times as I did.

Tinymcsmithy - 03 Dec 2020 18:02:29 (#20 of 70)

I came here to make a glib Batman reference but I see Tommy’s beaten me to it.
