Tabletop gaming, gaming, game...

As a spin off to the computer and console gaming thread, this one is dedicated to wargames, board games, and card games (even *gasp* role playing games...) - tabletop gaming in all its forms!

Games Workshops Fantasy battles game is being utterly revamped in a few weeks Warhammer - age of Sigmar gets released, and it looks pretty cool.

Some games wot I have played over the last six months:

Relic (board, WH40k themed)

Age of War (dice, Samurai themed - simple but fun)

Munchkin (card - Fantasy and Booty eds.)

Cards Against Humanity (card - going straight to hell, laughing all the way)

King of Tokyo (board, big monsters, raaaaargh etc.)

Descent (board, D&D-esque - not a full game yet though because the Rugrats don't have the patience)

Pandemic - Contagion (card, evolve your disease and kill as many as possible)

I'm planning on buying Concept to play at Christmas.

It's like charades played with symbols. So say you get "bath" on your card, you put a counter on a symbol for 'hot' maybe and one that indicates 'wet' and then... oh... everyone says rude things. I should have chosen another example.

Here's a picture of the board.

Act of War (dice, Samurai themed - simple but fun)

Is that the one from AEG? I've had my eye on that one for a few months.

King of Tokyo was a game I played for the first time at a gaming convention in January - really fun game.

The reasonably new 40k LCG is pretty good - a 2 player game, but initial box has cards for 7 factions (marines, Imp Guard, Orks, Eldar Dark eldar, Tau and Chaos, with necrons and nids getting their own expansions over time.

I'm looking for something linkable for Age of Sigmar that I can put on here.

bod, that game looks like a good idea - I may have to look out for it to add to the games I take on Scout camp.

JennyRad - 29 Jun 2015 17:49:24 (#6 of 964)

I saw Concepts being played at a wedding on Saturday, thank you for reminding me I meant to look it up, xbod.

Dominion is my favourite tabletop game that isn't Go; it's very clever and very variable and I love it.

LittleMissMuffet - 29 Jun 2015 17:50:00 (#7 of 964)

Eli - my mistake (corrected), it's actually AGE of War, sorry.

Explicity2 - 29 Jun 2015 17:50:19 (#8 of 964)

What combination of cards do your prefer in Dominion or do you change each time?

JennyRad - 29 Jun 2015 17:50:58 (#9 of 964)

Change each time - we have several expansions and like to mix and match for maximum variety.

Eligelis - 29 Jun 2015 17:51:54 (#10 of 964)

that's the one LMM, the Reiner Knizia game, he does do some stonkers.

Eligelis - 29 Jun 2015 17:52:57 (#11 of 964)

I love dominion purely for the ability to mix up the decks and have different combos of them. Thunderstone is almost identical in it's design and play.

Eligelis - 29 Jun 2015 17:57:36 (#12 of 964)

here you go LMM - images of the new Age of Sigmar figures in the box:

Blimy - I didn't know there were expansions. The original set must have plenty combinations as it is.

Eligelis - 29 Jun 2015 18:11:03 (#14 of 964)

there's about 6 Explicity

LittleMissMuffet - 29 Jun 2015 18:18:06 (#15 of 964)

Eli: I'm a member of Games and Theory - and just clocked this, funnily enough:

Eligelis - 29 Jun 2015 18:27:12 (#16 of 964)

Heh - I post several times on that thread. but so say what here would give my RL identity away.

helbel - 29 Jun 2015 19:22:02 (#17 of 964)

I'm another Dominion fan. Also Settlers. And Fluxx.

Explicity2 - 29 Jun 2015 19:26:16 (#18 of 964)

Thanks Eligelis. Maybe need to play base set more to get value for money from its options first!

LittleMissMuffet - 29 Jun 2015 19:33:38 (#19 of 964)

Ah, Fluxx is another - good call, once you get your head around the rule changes.

Eligelis - 29 Jun 2015 19:39:26 (#20 of 964)

some of the newer variants - with creepers, etc - such as zombie or cthullhu can be almost another game entirely,
