I don't really care about this but thought it might make a popular thread

mentranilvavin - 05 Jun 2018 19:49:27 (#2 of 103)

Could be wrong

HouseOfLametta - 05 Jun 2018 19:49:57 (#3 of 103)

Is it a Corbyn thing?

SinnerBoy - 05 Jun 2018 19:50:00 (#4 of 103)

Nobody gives a shit. I certainly won't be posting here.

barkis - 05 Jun 2018 19:50:41 (#5 of 103)

In my childhood I liked crisps and salad cream sandwiches.

mentranilvavin - 05 Jun 2018 19:51:19 (#6 of 103)

Now crisps and sandwich cream sandwiches. It's all wrong.

popperhead - 05 Jun 2018 19:51:55 (#7 of 103)

I guess that the "Heinz to stop making Salad Cream" has become too familiar as a free publicity stunt.

JohnIlly - 05 Jun 2018 19:55:55 (#8 of 103)

Didn't Heinz try a similar publicity ploy a few years ago. They were going to stop making it, or some such lie?

Goneril - 05 Jun 2018 19:56:15 (#9 of 103)

Won't it be confused with Sandwich Spread, aka cold sick?

mentranilvavin - 05 Jun 2018 19:57:54 (#10 of 103)

The renaming of Sandwich Spread to 'Cold Sick' didn't really work.

You'd think they'd learn.

Kucinghitam - 05 Jun 2018 19:58:43 (#11 of 103)

Salad cream is disgusting stuff, however it is named.

TRaney - 05 Jun 2018 20:03:43 (#12 of 103)

How is it different from mayonnaise?

mentranilvavin - 05 Jun 2018 20:04:12 (#13 of 103)

Sharper, more vinegary, more yellowy

mentranilvavin - 05 Jun 2018 20:04:45 (#14 of 103)

Much more likely to be served by your Nan in 1977

johnarrgh - 05 Jun 2018 20:06:08 (#15 of 103)

Salad Cream Sandwiches will never be the same again, sacrilege.

SinnerBoy - 05 Jun 2018 20:07:23 (#16 of 103)

See? Only 15 posts in 15 minutes. I told you that nobody would be interested.

HouseOfLametta - 05 Jun 2018 20:09:19 (#17 of 103)

I haven’t had salad cream in years. I used to like the filthy stuff.

I bet I still would.

barkis - 05 Jun 2018 20:11:52 (#18 of 103)

It was probably an "Abigail's Party" style search for sophistication that led to us eating mayonnaise instead.

Gotout - 05 Jun 2018 20:13:15 (#19 of 103)

It's probably just Heinz's owner Kraft trying to make it appeal more to Americans.

HouseOfLametta - 05 Jun 2018 20:14:24 (#20 of 103)

Indeed.

My mum’s salads were a healthy delight. Featuring a big lump of cheese, ham, hard boiled egg, pork pie, and freshly fried chips. Oh and one piece of lettuce and half a tomato.

All slathered in salad cream.
