Feeling hot hot!

Everybody loves hot sauce. But which is best? Let's have a heated (dyswidt) debate!

We have tabasco, sort of home made sriracha, and Nandos medium peri peri at home, and I have some Baron West Indian sauce at work. The Baron stuff is the nicest if you ask me.

I'm still looking for the ideal chilli sauce.

Meanwhile I make do with tabasco, Chiu Chow hot oil, an ultra hot chilli jam and the occasion dip of sweet chilli sauce.

Oh yeah, we've got some sweet chilli sauce as well. But it's not really hot

Never heard of. Please elaborate.

It's this one

Bloke at work ordered 6 and gave me one of them

Fairly spicy, but a nice rounded taste

WibbleAgain - 03 May 2019 09:14:37 (#8 of 115)

Thanks.

Nobody else likes the hot stuff here? Wuzzes.

I thought this was going to be about hot chocolate sauce poured over ice cream.

WibbleAgain - 03 May 2019 09:19:38 (#11 of 115)

Provided there's chilli in the chocolate sauce, it can be accommodated here.

Pickapeppa Sauce -- the spicy taste of Jamaica. If you slapped it on some roast pork, you could call it Pickapeppa Pig.

#11 I might accept pistachio nuts in with the chocolate but definitely not chilli.

WibbleAgain - 03 May 2019 09:26:52 (#14 of 115)

You should try it. Chocolate with chilli is heaven. Must be dark chocolate, of course, and no palm oil.

Daddy’s Sauce.

Rufus Teague touch of heat is worth a try .

Not a sauce, but the lime pickle that you get with poppadums is bloody marvellous. Even if it does bring tears to my eyes.

cozzer - 03 May 2019 15:28:11 (#18 of 115)

I've never found Tabasco to be particularly hot.

I have a bottle of Dragon's Blood. It's powerful stuff. A quantity about the size of half my little fingernail renders a plate of curry almost too spicy to eat.

I can't help feeling that most of the hot sauces available are just developed as a joke. I think there is a distinction between those made from real chilli peppers, and those that are just capsaicin added to a vinegary sauce.

The lime pickle they serve in restaurants is always much hotter than the standard supermarket sort, and all the better for it.

Airy has some stuff called Antidote by the Dorset Chilli Company. It's quite punchy.
