According to Morbo they always smell of bins, but then he likes Five Guys burgers so his judgement might be in doubt.

The much-celebrated ‘choice’ is simply a lot of very mediocre ingredients. Nothing is of decent quality.

Verdigris - 10 Aug 2021 10:48:08 (#3 of 57)

When I learned they put sugar in their "bread" that reduced the possibility of me darkening their doors from vanishingly small to zero.

If I want cake I'll go to a cake shop.

tasselhoff - 10 Aug 2021 11:50:18 (#4 of 57)

They're crap, especially the bread.

FleurDuMal - 10 Aug 2021 11:54:07 (#5 of 57)

Yes, the bread has a horrible sweet taste.

Shadrack22 - 10 Aug 2021 12:01:36 (#6 of 57)

Always think of Morbo when I walk past Five Guys on Parliament Street in Harrogate.

FrankieTeardrop - 10 Aug 2021 12:02:41 (#7 of 57)

I never have, and never will, eaten a Five Guys burger. Am I missing out?

TheExcession - 10 Aug 2021 13:12:49 (#8 of 57)

Five Guys burgers are alright, but they're very expensive for something you eat out of a paper bag on plastic furniture. You're talking fifteen quid for a burger, fries and a drink.

“In this case, there is no dispute that the bread supplied by Subway in its heated sandwiches has a sugar content of 10% of the weight of the flour included in the dough.”

Yeah, Five Guys is nothing special. Is it way cheaper in the US? It feels like it should be. And the chips are rubbish.

Can't be doing with Subway. It's just cheap, generic sandwich stuff. Utterly boring.

I have diabetes, so would not step foot in the place.

Moschops - 10 Aug 2021 13:19:24 (#13 of 57)

Tastes ok to me, for franchised fast food.

#10 - I loved this line from the article.

"The ingredient is commonly used in the manufacture of yoga mats and carpet underlay and has been banned by the European Union and Australia from use in food products."

I quite like the veggie patty with cheese on a wrap with salad, jalapeños and mayonnaise.

TheExcession - 10 Aug 2021 13:36:43 (#16 of 57)

Subway serves a purpose. If you're on a night out in a strange town, want a quick bite to eat in between pubs and can't find a chippy, it's cleaner than the dodgy kebab place.

Catspyjamas17 - 10 Aug 2021 13:38:08 (#17 of 57)

Also you can get a reasonable box of salad, now that there are hardly any other pick your own salad places left, it seems. I don't bother with the actual subs.

TauCeti - 10 Aug 2021 13:45:23 (#18 of 57)

The worst I've ever tried, once and never again.

TheExcession - 10 Aug 2021 14:00:50 (#19 of 57)

They sell weird, warm floppy biscuits like an entire rugby team has used them for an initiation ritual.

Arjuna - 10 Aug 2021 14:01:21 (#20 of 57)

perhaps they have
