"The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It's nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It is about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out to beat the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."

Uneasy about this afto's visit to Wolves. No Bale or VdV. Defoe pranged in Dubai and a team with thoughts on next Wednesday can't be expected to go hell-for-leather. Narrow one goal defeat with a few scored, I reckon.

Cheers, PR.

That was a cracker. Shame we couldn't hold onto the lead. Who do we think we are, The Nomads? Wolves were robbed of a perfectly good goal, mind. No real complaints and roll on Wednesday.

Thanks for this Badds. Feels like home again. Didn't see the game. Read the reports. Looking forward to Weds.

Just going by the highlights on MotD2, it was a cracking game. Both of Defoe's goals and the other from Pavlyuchenko, will have done them and the club good at a stage of the season when a choice of good scoring options matters all the more. I wish Wolves hadn't scored three goals also, but they looked like they deserved them. A point each looked like a fair outcome.

Yes, and thanks for opening the thread, baddams.

Bale looked frisky didn't he, and nice to see JD back amongst the goals, but f*ck me, our defence is truly atrocious at times.

Weds could be interesting.

Good game, Deano would've like it.

Wolves definitely deserved something from the game, but there were times I was screaming at the players to just bloody shoot!!!

Defoe and Pav looked pretty good together, and both put in a good shift up front. Which will mean both get dropped for Wednesday and Crouch plays up with vdV.

One minor grumble is that I can't understand bringing on Kranjcar for Modric.

At that stage of the game we were still winning and had more than enough attacking players on the pitch, so I would rather Willy P came on to help out defensively instead.

Spuds_I_Like - 07 Mar 2011 09:32:29 (#10 of 17130)

Yep, we were screaming out for some Willy.

samesamebutdifferent - 07 Mar 2011 09:43:59 (#11 of 17130)

Are we back to the l*m*nparty thing now?

1MELSM - 07 Mar 2011 09:52:49 (#12 of 17130)

Vince, it may have been Harry now keeping Kranjcar first-team active and focused. He can play, he can score good goals, and he has had to be used recently when certain players tired or got injured. Harry did say when Kranjcar could not get in the team that he had time and respect for him, and he obviously has.

VinceNoir - 07 Mar 2011 10:20:57 (#13 of 17130)

I see what you mean, MELSM, but we needed someone more defensively minded on the pitch at that stage of the game.

Even keeping Luka on would've been better as Niko breaks out into a massive sweat if he has to go back over the halfway line.

Love the thread header, Badds.

It was a good game yesterday, even if I was swearing at the tv at some points. Don't really understand why the ref didn't send Hutton off, but very grateful that he didn't.

Am already feeling a bit anxious about Wednesday, would be a real pain to go out after playing so well in Milan.

VinceNoir - 07 Mar 2011 10:52:31 (#15 of 17130)

I think I read somewhere that Milan are struggling with injuries, so hopefully they won't be full strength.

Also fingers crossed that we have a pretty much full strength team.

Moschops - 07 Mar 2011 10:52:46 (#16 of 17130)

Bit of a joke Hutton not walking for that. And Defoe stutting around like he's all that after scoring the first, when was his previous league goal?

MadamGeorge - 07 Mar 2011 10:55:35 (#17 of 17130)

And Defoe stutting around

Maybe he had just seen the Kings Speech.

VinceNoir - 07 Mar 2011 10:55:52 (#18 of 17130)

2005 I think, 'chops.

1MELSM - 07 Mar 2011 11:28:21 (#19 of 17130)

Maybe he had just seen the Kings Speech.

Maybe he had just heard King's speech in the dressing room.
