Pascal Cygan, better than Frank Lampard!

The only interesting fact to emerge from a WHOLE BBC podcast DEVOTED to Lampard, is that Pascal Cygan has won more Premierships than him. Cygan is therefore a better player. FACT!

Oh and there was also lots of whinging about teh foreign players making English players crap and whateva happened to THE GOLDEN GENERATION!?

Moschops - 10 Sep 2013 09:01:01 (#2 of 21)

whateva happened to THE GOLDEN GENERATION!?

Alan Hansen pointed out that in Brazil or Germany THE GOLDEN GENERATION would just have been seen as a fairly average set of players.

urbanspacemonkey - 10 Sep 2013 09:24:21 (#3 of 21)

I've never even heard anyone outside the media use the phrase the golden generation.

Pascal Cygan only has one premier league medal, I'm sure Frank has more

Are you sure, Tiny? If this was last night's Monday Night Club on fivelive (which I was listening to as driving home from work), I seem to remember that Cygan's Premier League titles were compared with Steven Gerrard's PL titles and used to 'prove' that Cygan was better than Gerrard (as part of a conversation that Gerrard's stats were better than Lampard's)

In Brazil or Germany the average is to be competing for major honours, though.

Ah, you're probably right Vendor. I was on the point of throwing my earphones across the room by that point.

TinyMcOtter - 10 Sep 2013 20:19:14 (#8 of 21)

Still, it was a good thread while it lasted.

Pascal Cygan would have scored that header

TinyMcOtter - 10 Sep 2013 23:22:02 (#11 of 21)

Into his own net.

davedanon - 11 Sep 2013 00:10:34 (#12 of 21)

filth.

If we were still using IIJM, I would have to say that, in this case, IIJY.

I missed this TRIUMPH of a thread

TinyMcOtter - 15 Sep 2013 00:46:03 (#15 of 21)

It had so much potential.

Just for Wenger's face at the end.

Never mind Pascal Cygan, proof that Igor Stepanov is one the Premier League all time greats

"Igor Stepanov made 17 appearances for Arsenal in the early 2000s and won 13 matches"

For me, Silvestre will always be the pinnacle of both shiteness at Arsenal and of Wenger at his stingiest and most irrationally stubborn.

SteveFrench - 24 Apr 2015 13:50:02 (#19 of 21)

Don't forget Alumna!

TinyMcOtter - 24 Apr 2015 15:53:03 (#20 of 21)

You mean Almunia, future England goalie? He wasn't all that bad. Not great, but we've had worse goalies. Manone probably.
