1 (a) Slow West

(b) Dr Zhivago (although that was at the cinema, not on TV)

(c) All the Light You Cannot See

(d) Shaun of the Sheep - the Farmer's Llamas

(e) N/A

(f) By the Rivers at various venues. Probably in Hoxton Square was the better one

(g) RSA vs Wales in the world cup

2. The best one I cooked was the one I did for some friends on New Year's Day. Cider and onion soup for starter, with fizzy wine. Then venison in a chocolate and beetroot sauce, with I think a Burgundy, but I can't remember. Then chocolate pecan pie with a New Zealand sweet riesling.

Best out was probably at the Glasshouse in Kew.

3. All of it

4. i've only read the first few posts, but the 'windfarms cause flooding' thread surely has potential to be the meme of the next few months

5. pwning bill on the selenium deficiency thread was pretty enjoyable

dreams99 - 31 Dec 2015 11:51:04 (#2 of 12)

1.

a) Not been to the cinema in 3 years, so haven't seen anything new. Not even Bond or Star Wars.

b) Caught up on a few gilms from recent years. Maybe Boyhood, although watching the whole This is England sequence back to back was very affecting.

c) Unquestionably the Elena Ferrante saga, read all of them this year, plus the three earlier novellas.

d) The Bridge 3.

e) Probably one of the Masterchefs.

f) Didn't go to any. Really have to sort out a babysitter one day.

g) The FA Cup final was fun, although not much of a contest. Otherwise, Beating Man United 3-0 at home.

2. We have two high quality local restaurants - Babur and Le Querce. We probably had better celebration meals at Babur this year. Best one I cooked, possibly a chicken dish from the Bird in the Hand cookbook.

3. Can't recall a highlight for the moment.

4. Several bill ones, although the Trump ones are reliably loony.

5. Apart from the STCMUI thread and similar, probably the Tennis thread. Although as I'm getting into gardening and piano, the threads dedicated to those have been good for me.

fogger - 31 Dec 2015 11:53:22 (#3 of 12)

1. Jurassic World

2. Zodiac. I seem to watch it every year.

3. The Plantagenets!

4. Peep Show

5. Oh, I dunno. Probably Masterchef.

6. Slayer @ Leeds.

7. Ashes @ Lords. Only saw two hours of cricket but there was a handy three-hour rain delay in the middle and a free bar.

8. Favourite meal/restaurant. Kota in Porthleven in Cornwall.

9. Probably something Dom said.

10. I try to avoid menty threads.

11. The Panini Sticker World Cup.

fogger - 31 Dec 2015 11:54:59 (#4 of 12)

Dreams - my restaurant answer was almost the same. But taking a holiday with the in-laws did actually allow us to sneak off for one nice meal this year.

What was your favourite:

a) Film - newly released?

Only seen one film this year at the cinema (or at least I think it's only one) and that was Inside Out which was very good.

b) Film - watched on TV or DVD/download?

Haven't watched many films this year at home either. I can only think of Transformers 4 and Taken. Taken wins.

Haven't read at all in the last year. I will make sure I do so next year.

d) TV programme - drama or comedy?

Greg Davies has made me laugh a lot this year. I've seen two of his stand up shows, and Man Down and Taskmaster and thought they were all great.

e) TV programme - documentary/reality?

I liked what I saw of the Beckham documentary the other day, and that is the only documentary I've seen this year. Watched IACGMOOF for the first time this year and I won't be doing so again, though watching Chris Eubank walking backwards down a hill and falling over was mildly amusing.
