Players that rather surprisingly were.

The Yang to the 'Players that could have been and should have been' Ying. Those players who rather against the odds managed to forge successful careers disproportionate to their actual ability.

Or, the Carlton Palmer thread.

Leo Messi.

Messi was diagnosed with a growth hormone disorder, or GHD. It is often called idiopathic short stature, but there are problems that go beyond being shorter than average......The treatments were injections of human growth hormone. For someone with GHD, this is a life-changer, allowing them to not only develop greater height, but also help deal with a variety of internal issues, such as pituitary function, skin and teeth problems, poor vision and lower immunity.

So he's a kind of modified human, like the Hulk? That's cheating, surely.

Moschops - 07 Apr 2016 19:48:07 (#14 of 83)

He's way better than Hulk.

Gotout - 07 Apr 2016 19:50:24 (#15 of 83)

I thought this thread was about players in the manner of Ryan Giggs!

RunnyBabbit - 07 Apr 2016 19:52:39 (#16 of 83)

Carlton Palmer. Couldn't trap a bag of cement.

Played for the England U21, England B and England seniors sides, I see.

RunnyBabbit - 07 Apr 2016 19:53:21 (#17 of 83)

Er, wot it sez in the header.

After Leeds were relegated from the Premiership we signed Michael Ricketts. Well, I thought, we're still capable of signing players who have played for England i thought. A player who has played for England can't be too bad I thought. Ok it's not like signing that young tyro Wayne Rooney I thought, but as I've mentioned, he's played for England so surely will set the Championship alight with his superior footballing skillz. That's what I thought.

Made his debut for England in the same game as Vassell.

dreams99 - 07 Apr 2016 20:34:47 (#21 of 83)

Signing someone called 'ricketts' isn't a good omen.

2-2 draw against Netherlands at WHL I think.

VinceNoir - 07 Apr 2016 20:38:28 (#23 of 83)

Vassell scored a sideways bicycle kick and van Bommell scored as well.

TheWarOnTerry - 07 Apr 2016 20:39:33 (#24 of 83)

Gary Birtles, Peter Davenport.

fogger - 08 Apr 2016 08:54:16 (#25 of 83)

I went to that game. It was depressing.

Gareth Barry. Has amassed a squillion top-flight appearances by virtue of simply not getting injured much.
