The Road To Super Bowl LII

NFL begins this week!

MontyPeculiar - 04 Sep 2017 22:30:16 (#1 of 957)

So, who do you reckon will make the Super Bowl?

I'll go Steelers/Seahawks.

Falcons and Packers should go far in NFC again. AFC, hard to see past Brady and the Pats, as usual. Otherwise, the AFC looks weak, some decent teams let down by not having elite QBs, like Broncos and Chiefs.

My Dark Horse, and one I hope works for FF, are the Buccs. After a poor start last season, they finished the year strongly. Still some work needed on D and they need to get the running game going, but I'm hoping for big things from Winston and Evans. DeSean should help carve defences open.

I reckon it'll be an AFC team that wins it. One of Houston, New England, Oakland. Probably defeating either Green Bay, Seattle or Dallas.

It would be nice in the circumstances to see Houston succeed, teaming up Watson with their defence has great potential. I guess the Patriots are favs even without Edelman. I would have liked to have seen Oakland with Carr in the playoffs last year, but now hope that they win sod all cos i think Lynch is a knob and the victory would end up being all about him.

Texans? Do you rate Savage? I reckon they are another of the teams that will struggle because of the lack of a top QB. I think they robbed the Titans of a playoff spot last year, not sure how they managed it.

champagnerocker - 04 Sep 2017 23:30:23 (#5 of 957)

Texans have certainly been a team that have disappointed the past couple of years because they are meh at QB. Now they've got the QB all the pundits were unanimously praising as the cream of the draft class they could have a geniune chance.

Sure Bill O'Brian may be insisting that Savage is the starter as the experienced pro how knows his playbook, but we'll see how long that lasts.

Not elite is the nicest compliment anyone's paid Trevor Siemian. Bronco fans are actually pining for Tebow. Who would still be better than final season Peyton Manning so there is that.

kiwizoidberg - 05 Sep 2017 06:25:25 (#7 of 957)

There's a strong possibility Brock is on his way back there.

Didn't final-season Peyton Manning win a Superbowl?

spartak - 05 Sep 2017 06:34:39 (#8 of 957)

He did indeed. With the Broncos.

NFL mega preview from ESPN:

Of course I am now remembering that the big disadvantage of the NFL regular season starting is that i will now be completely cream crackered at work on Mondays.

The Packers have possession with 5mins on the clock in the fourth and are 2 scores up and i'm tempted to go to bed. However, i can't help but recall how Green Bay managed to improbably snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against the Seahawks in the '14 NFC title game.

edit: i'm drifting off already, and forgot Seattle just got a field goal so its only an 8 point difference.

*********Dallas Cowboys*********

Will be in that game

spartak - 11 Sep 2017 10:39:35 (#12 of 957)

We put the Brownies away but it was closer than I would have liked.

FinnTheHuman - 11 Sep 2017 11:14:49 (#13 of 957)

Came very close against the Falcons. Look more like a team this season already.

kiwizoidberg - 11 Sep 2017 11:23:52 (#14 of 957)

Cohen looks handy. Shame about the rest.

spartak - 11 Sep 2017 13:23:13 (#15 of 957)

From ESPN:

Ben Roethlisberger now has more wins in Cleveland (11) than any Browns' QB has since the team returned to the NFL in 1999.

kiwizoidberg - 11 Sep 2017 20:56:09 (#16 of 957)

Maybe Bell should have turned up to pre season after all.

misosoup100 - 11 Sep 2017 22:22:06 (#17 of 957)

Didn't final-season Peyton Manning win a Superbowl?

His D won that Superbowl. I think he had the lowest regular season QB rating of any Superbowl winner.

champagnerocker - 15 Sep 2017 23:05:47 (#18 of 957)

My man Watson got one of those classic "welcome to the NFL, rookie" moments last night...

...then ran half the field to score two plays later.

kiwizoidberg - 16 Sep 2017 00:42:11 (#19 of 957)

Nice. Terrible tackling, Bengals are in the basement with the other rubbish teams this season. 2 games in and still no TD.
