Your mum

India vs Pakistan at the cricket. You'd have to say that any sporting contest that carries the risk of nuclear war breaking out has got to be up there in terms of rivalries.

El Salvador and Honduras had a Soccer War.

Ice skating has spawned all sorts of brutal rivalries and general malevolence over the years.

Palace and Brighton, ffs. Goes up to 11, man. When I heard that, I just knew that they really don't like each other.

Football in the former Yugoslavia often involves away fan "cages" rather then seating areas.

certainly not the Ashes, large sections of the English population simply don't care about cricket.

The Ashes has longevity and the added bonus of being neck and neck in results after 120-odd years.

Pak v India is YUGE - but it would help if they actually played each other.

Biggest UK rivalry is obviously Norwich/Ipswich.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor. No way did they do that just for the money.

popstar7 - 30 Nov 2017 19:50:31 (#10 of 76)

Celtic vs Rangers

800 years of history and they still hate each other like the day they first met.

Well exactly, it's so YUGE they don't dare play each other.

Adidas v Puma.

Doesn't Galatasaray vs Fenerbahce make Rangers vs Celtic look positively genteel?

Moschops - 30 Nov 2017 19:55:53 (#15 of 76)

River Plate v Boca is fairly lively

SGM1A1 - 30 Nov 2017 19:56:40 (#16 of 76)

I understand Ajax v Feyenoord is a pretty serious rivalry

If it's based on matches I would be scared to attend, West Ham vs Millwall would be at/near the top of the list.

HerrWalrus - 30 Nov 2017 20:04:25 (#18 of 76)

Are we confusing sporting rivalry with parochial skirmishes?

Turkish - 30 Nov 2017 20:07:14 (#19 of 76)

Partizan v Red Star

popstar7 - 30 Nov 2017 20:07:58 (#20 of 76)

Most rivalries are parochial skirmishes, tbf.
