The all new 18/19 Championship thread

All things Championship.

Stoke seem firm favourites having managed to keep their best players, despite being the utter bobbins in the Prem.

Then you've West Brom, Boro, the all new LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS, Villa, Notts Forest (that's NOTTS Forest) and Derby all looking hopeful. Brentford are dark horses some rekon. Can Swansea turn last seasons mare around?

At the other end Notlob and Rotherham look particularly vulnerable.

All your second tier shenanigans here.

Without wishing to reverse hex you (much), I think this could be Leeds’ season.

davedanon - 01 Aug 2018 17:13:45 (#2 of 45)

I think this could be Leeds’ season.

This post has been brought to you by 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014.....etc etc.

Tadagee - 01 Aug 2018 17:14:11 (#3 of 45)

Last season i said i'd eat my hat if Leeds didn't get promoted within two seasons.

<starts looking online for chocolate hat suppliers>

Tadagee - 01 Aug 2018 17:18:55 (#4 of 45)

Relegated teams rarely do well in their first season down, but Stoke and West Brom are both fancied by bookies with Stoke only 7/4 for promotion.

Good comeback win from the Swans against the Baldes on Sat. Mind you that was put into perspective by Boro giving Utd a tonking last night.

It was nice to see young lads giving a shit about playing though rather than sour faces mercenaries waving their arms about

I was a bit jarred that the season started so early, is that a new thing? Probably not, but anyway; ESPN+ has. $50 subscription for selected championship games this year.

markymark123 - 08 Aug 2018 10:36:48 (#6 of 45)

morning. I'm a WBA supporter.

bit of a shaky start, were fortunate to get a point against forest last night.

however green and yellow stripes away kit back yay.

Moschops - 08 Aug 2018 10:48:58 (#7 of 45)

Yeah, we should have won last night, so that's a bit annoying. We're playing OK though, shame we sold Assombalonga, reckon he'd get a hatful in this team.

markymark123 - 08 Aug 2018 10:54:58 (#8 of 45)

It was a case of not taking your chances, but at least you made some.

SteveFrench - 11 Aug 2018 10:01:17 (#9 of 45)

FFS I see the Swans sold 4 more players on transfer deadline day. Only one senior defender left.

Tadagee - 01 Sep 2018 15:02:55 (#10 of 45)

Well on the basis of last night I'll be very surprised if Boro don't go up. Can't see them conceding many, and they're just so bloody enormous that every set piece is a threat.

We're a better team but think they're better suited to win the Championship

Speaking of which, bloody hell id not want to question Biesla, but leaving 6 ft 5 Pontus on the bench against them was a brave move.

Arjuna - 01 Sep 2018 15:25:55 (#11 of 45)

Randolph 6ft 3

Fry 6 ft 4

Flint 6 ft 5

Shotton 6 ft 3

Ayala 6 ft 3

Friend 6 ft 2

some big defenders there, Pulis keeping it simple

Moschops - 01 Sep 2018 15:28:37 (#12 of 45)

Leeds v Forest on the 27th October has been moved to 17:30 so it can be tellified

markymark123 - 21 Sep 2018 09:48:24 (#13 of 45)

ALBION.

Home to Millwall on saturday.

On paper it should be a walkover. 0-1 to them then.

Moschops - 21 Sep 2018 09:50:17 (#14 of 45)

Forest look nailed on for mid table obscurity this season

LordofMisrule - 21 Sep 2018 09:57:14 (#15 of 45)

Big-spending Forest, as they are officially designated. But yeah, mediocrity beckons as usual. Remember when Aitor Karanka was one of the more exciting, forward-looking appointments a Championship club could make?

Moschops - 21 Sep 2018 09:59:39 (#16 of 45)

And if Ipswich were to continue their form and go down, I think we'd be the division's longest serving club.

Mind you, our performances have improved a fair bit in the last 2 games, and there's a long way to go...

LordofMisrule - 21 Sep 2018 10:05:51 (#17 of 45)

We're currently two points off the playoffs - in a densely-packed table - so anything's possible. I'd be more confident if they'd bought a couple of defenders.

Tadagee - 21 Sep 2018 11:09:46 (#18 of 45)

<peers down from top of table>

Sorry can't hear what you're saying down there. Could you speak up?

MontyPeculiar - 21 Sep 2018 11:17:57 (#19 of 45)

We're currently two points off the playoffs

Haha. It’s September.

YogiMeerfield - 21 Sep 2018 12:07:17 (#20 of 45)

Don't worry, Leeds will find some way to fuck it up. They always do.
