We could do with some meaningful pauses.

Ahhh, too bad this nice clean space doesn't mean the Trump shitshow was concluded.

I will repost this here:

Avenatti's client is apparently a government worker who has had dealings with the DOJ and State Department.

First!

popstar7 - 24 Sep 2018 18:08:56 (#3 of 3902)

Damn. Second.

LucyVanPelt - 24 Sep 2018 18:09:16 (#4 of 3902)

Not so fast pop.

xbod72 - 24 Sep 2018 18:10:43 (#5 of 3902)

In this case that's a statement of fact rather than a command.

PaperRustler - 24 Sep 2018 18:11:51 (#6 of 3902)

I've just realised that I mixed up Stoppard and Pinter in my 'meaningful pauses' reference there. D'oh.

PaperRustler - 24 Sep 2018 18:16:02 (#7 of 3902)

This is interesting, from ex-WH ethics guy Walter Shaub. No wonder he resigned in disgust:

In a nutshell, if the next in line at the DOJ (Francisco) takes over from Rosenstein he should recuse himself; his firm represents Team Trump in the Russia investigation. However, handily, Donnie has rewritten the ethics pledge so that all Francisco needs is a note from Donnie himself.

'Tis pity the thread title has an incorrect spelling of Kavanaugh

PaperRustler - 24 Sep 2018 18:17:44 (#9 of 3902)

OH EM GEE

Going to ask the mods to change that; however, TRaney can take some of the blame cos I C&P'd his post. Should have spotted it though.

Dayraven - 24 Sep 2018 18:20:12 (#10 of 3902)

Yes, it's supposed to be spelt O'Kavanaugh.

davedanon - 24 Sep 2018 18:20:56 (#11 of 3902)

Excellent title, PR.

BasilSeal - 24 Sep 2018 18:21:27 (#12 of 3902)

I've just realised that I mixed up Stoppard and Pinter in my 'meaningful pauses' reference there. D'oh.

Stoppard's play if often compared to Beckett, so the pauses reference still works. The Trump presidency is certainly an absurdest existential tragi comedy, though.

dreams99 - 24 Sep 2018 18:30:32 (#13 of 3902)

A very traumatic #whyIdidntreport thread:

Sorry, I see it was TR's work. Well done, sir.

And yes, Basil, it is certainly the mostest absurdest EVER.

New: Kavanaugh defends himself in letter to Sen Judiciary: “The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out. The vile threats of violence against my family will not drive me out. The last-minute character assassination will not succeed” @Arianedevogue reports

New York Times keeps tweeting the wrong story.

popstar7 - 24 Sep 2018 18:56:08 (#17 of 3902)

This stuff is just laughable. It's not going to knock Kavanaugh out of the news and it hasn't. It might give Sean Hannity another few nights' (months') material but he could just as easily come up with hours' worth of pro-Kavanaugh stuff if he had to -

Gabe Sherman reports that the Rosenstein leak appears to have been a "smoke bomb" to knock Kavanaugh out of the news. “The strategy was to try and do something really big,” said a source familiar with Trump's thinking. https://t.co/wWRGXJZBHA

The last-minute character assassination will not succeed

Character-assassination is one thing, but the last-minute kind is the worst. That is unforgiveable.

Bromio - 24 Sep 2018 18:59:36 (#19 of 3902)

As the mods are currently responding to our tinkering requests perhaps they could put a link to this new thread at the foot of the old one. And maybe at its head too.

Just loads of people saying they're finished with the NYT. Shameless manipulation.
