You know the drill.

Is that real? He looks like a hologram of a muppet

<<The plot to rewrite the USC:>>

the stupidity is remarkable, slim. but one thing to recall -- even if there were a convention, no proposed amendment could take effect until ratified by 3/4 of the states.

Moschops - 03 May 2021 13:37:43 (#23 of 1852)

Any chance of a change of the 2nd being thrown in?

brooklyn - 03 May 2021 13:40:08 (#24 of 1852)

nope. but I like the way you think.

Tinymcsmithy - 03 May 2021 15:21:27 (#25 of 1852)

They need an amendment to the 2nd amendment that guarantees the right to bear arms, but only while dressed as a pantomime rabbit with bunny ears and a tutu.

Facebook's Oversight Board has delivered its ruling on the company's indefinite ban on Donald Trump. After a delay, partially to review the more than 9,000 public comments people submitted to this case, the Oversight Board has announced that it'll release its decision on Trump's ban this Wednesday, May 5th, at 9AM ET.

If you need to slaughter livestock for burnt offerings, or select virgins for blood sacrifices, do so now.

Do you work for Jeffrey Epstein?

popstar7 - 03 May 2021 16:11:34 (#29 of 1852)

The 2020 presidential election was not stolen. Anyone who claims it was is spreading THE BIG LIE, turning their back on the rule of law, and poisoning our democratic system.

popstar7 - 03 May 2021 16:12:47 (#30 of 1852)

On which -

This is important. And it's a canary in the coal mine for the broken state of her party that she will face far more Republican backlash for this statement of fact than those in her caucus like Marjorie Taylor Greene who constantly peddle disgusting conspiracy theories and lies.

Sadly it seems there’s something particularly American about the gullibility that allows a charlatan like Trump to fool so many.

The public education situation was never that good, mainly with the aim to provide compliant workers for industry. It’s still hit or miss, with critical thinking not much of a priority as social media woo takes over.

misosoup100 - 03 May 2021 16:48:59 (#32 of 1852)

Political / governance failure on an unprecedented scale: all cause mortality 2015-2020 in the US.

BuddhaPest - 03 May 2021 17:10:38 (#33 of 1852)

Something particularly American?

You're posting in a talkboard hosted in a country where Boris Johnson is Prime Minister.

misosoup100 - 03 May 2021 17:27:49 (#34 of 1852)

The failure in the US stems from a belief that the govt can only ever make things worse, which goes back to Reagan. i.e. the only role of govt is to get out of the way of the free market.

I'm sure other countries failed for a combination of similar and different reasons.

Tinymcsmithy - 03 May 2021 17:40:16 (#35 of 1852)

True. But people have distrusted governments for ever. There’s also something about celebrity and modern ‘populist’ right wing leaders.

If Johnson and Trump had not been built up as ‘funny’ crossed with ‘plain spoken’ by media establishments across the spectrum, their political careers would have gone nowhere.

I don’t understand this phenomenon at all. (My default is always that celebs are probably dickheads). But it’s clearly there.

Garden - 03 May 2021 17:41:05 (#36 of 1852)

Virgil, have you heard about Brexit yet?

Pixiedust - 03 May 2021 18:12:46 (#37 of 1852)

Or the Windrush scandal?

TheFLUFFIESTKittenEvah - 03 May 2021 18:29:33 (#38 of 1852)

Don't forget Grenfell. Where HM government told millions of owners facing unaffordable fees to remove and replace dangerous cladding to go do one. Whilst at the same time paying for Johnson's renovations.

Garden - 03 May 2021 19:05:23 (#39 of 1852)

I must say, the new look for 10 Downing Street is, well, interesting.

Possibly even worse than what Malaria did to the Rose Garden.
