What music are you listening to right now?

Not a thread about music in general, but as it says in the thread header, what you are listening to right now.

Do you like it? If not then why not*?

*If it's Elbow then no need to explain.

Nothing right now as I need to talk to colleagues, but was listening to The Queen Is Dead on the way in, and I don't think I'd ever heard it in its entirety before. Not all that imo, Hatful of Hollow is way better.

Listening to a track by Wretch 32 called Traktor.

Yeah I'm well down widdit.

Not music, but the last thing playing on 6Music as I got out of the car was an interview with Mark E Smith at the launch party for The Fall's new album.

He sounded more 'refreshed' than usual. I know he sounds like that sober, but he really was almost incoherent.

Little Sister by Elvis Presley.

Not his best, but still pretty listenable.

Needle in a Haystack by The Velvelettes.

Yes I am listening to some Motown. What of it? I like it.

davedanon - 29 Nov 2011 10:02:07 (#6 of 5752)

I am listening to talk radio right now, and I didn't listen to any music last night, but in the car I am currently 'spinning' Lust for Life by Iggy Pop quite a lot.

Moschops - 29 Nov 2011 10:05:48 (#7 of 5752)

The Slim by Sugar right now.

RosyLovelady - 29 Nov 2011 10:08:41 (#8 of 5752)

I love Needle in a Haystack.

Motown is fab. What a shame the Funk Brothers' September tour was cancelled.

VinceNoir - 29 Nov 2011 10:11:20 (#9 of 5752)

It almost had me tapping my feet at my desk, RL.

I like a lot of Motown stuff, which seems strange when compared to my rock and hip hop collections.

davedanon - 29 Nov 2011 10:12:49 (#10 of 5752)

Without Motown and soul/funk in general there wouldn't be any goddamn hip-hop, Vince.

VinceNoir - 29 Nov 2011 10:12:51 (#11 of 5752)

Which brings me to The Seed (2.0) by The Roots.

I like The Roots.

VinceNoir - 29 Nov 2011 10:13:58 (#12 of 5752)

Without Motown and soul/funk in general there wouldn't be any goddamn hip-hop, Vince.

I never said there would be, dave. Just saying that a lot of people find my music collection strange.

davedanon - 29 Nov 2011 10:18:16 (#13 of 5752)

Why would they? Is liking older music not allowed?

Walshy - 29 Nov 2011 10:18:21 (#14 of 5752)

I'm stuck in a bit of a rut when it comes to music. I tend to have a selection of songs that I like, it's all on my phone (only about 270 songs) and I've not updated it for a year or so.

I find myself skipping over more tracks than I listen to, tbf.

Quite liking hip-hop / breakbeat DJ sets at the moment. Krafty Kuts, A Skillz, Freestylers feature a lot.

The Beardyman Reading mix 2009 is fab, too.

davedanon - 29 Nov 2011 10:21:18 (#15 of 5752)

The pile of CDs beside our kitchen CD player includes Al Green, Van Morrison and some disco/soul collections. In the car are three Iggy records, the National and a Wire compilation.

VinceNoir - 29 Nov 2011 10:23:16 (#16 of 5752)

Why would they? Is liking older music not allowed?

Of course it is, but there are lots of people that don't like such different music as say classical and techno. I happen to like all kinds of music, with the exception of CnW, and people do find it strange that I like older music, more so when they find out what current/more recent stuff I listen to.

Moschops - 29 Nov 2011 10:35:51 (#17 of 5752)

Why don't you like CnW, that in itself is so varied there's something for everyone imo?

Walshy - 29 Nov 2011 10:37:39 (#18 of 5752)

I was going to mention, I'm a big fan of the Springsteen Seeger sessions album. That's pretty CnW.

VinceNoir - 29 Nov 2011 10:40:38 (#19 of 5752)

I would probably like some CnW, but most of what I heard in America made me want to rip my ears off.

And Garth Brooks can fuck right off.

VinceNoir - 29 Nov 2011 10:41:23 (#20 of 5752)

That said, I did hear a CnW song called "I really want a blowjob, suck me off" that was quite good.
