Why hasn't there been more notice taken of the 500th anniversary of the Diet of Worms?

Well?

In Germany they still celebrate the diet of worms.

Possibly. I don't have a dog in this fight. But I feel we should be doing something, if only for the comedy value.

It's too many years since Martin Luther was at all fashionable in these islands.

You need to link it to Corbyn to get traction.

I like worms -- they've got a sense of humus.

We stood firm, rejecting that sort of thing?

I dunt know. There's many a Catholic priest whose squeezed himself into a vacant popehole.

TheValkyrie - 22 Apr 2021 20:59:44 (#13 of 19)

I thought the church frowned on that? Especially with the Pope!

FleurDuMal - 22 Apr 2021 21:00:44 (#14 of 19)

Nonsense. The Pope likes people to kiss his ring.

TheValkyrie - 22 Apr 2021 21:05:20 (#15 of 19)

That's supper ruined.

brooklyn - 22 Apr 2021 21:11:00 (#16 of 19)

as best I can tell, only a Klingon would celebrate a diet of worms.

TheValkyrie - 22 Apr 2021 21:30:38 (#17 of 19)

Ka'pla!

Interesting word diet. The German word is Tag, whose primary meaning is "day" and presumably got extended to day of meeting and then assembly, as in Bundestag. Diet is from dies, the Latin for day.
