Are you enjoying the chaos?

This morning's news that even the Oscars were hopeless seems entirely in tune with our time.

As our heroes died around us, into power by default came actual idiots. People who are actually incompetent and actually directionless, they don't know what they are doing, or why, and there is no one to replace them.

The whole planet is thrashing about like an workplace when management are on an away day. It cannot last, but are you enjoying it?

Is the minute by minute diet of venal stupidity in tiny detail killing you, or is it kind of fun?

Do you turn on the radio in the morning to see who has screwed everything up for no reason, today?

Because I think I do.

I heard it was all the fault of legendary accountants Price Waterhouse Cooper who count the votes and supply the envelopes. What larks! It must be the first mistake they've ever made in their entire history.

bossab2 - 27 Feb 2017 07:16:31 (#2 of 149)

Not enjoying it at all.

RosyLovelady - 27 Feb 2017 07:17:19 (#3 of 149)

They only do it to annoy you.

Rendered - 27 Feb 2017 07:41:36 (#4 of 149)

I know I do.

the Oscars were hopeless

Those excitable Hollywood types are all on drugs, aren't they?

mememe - 27 Feb 2017 08:16:29 (#6 of 149)

The people who screwed up were accountants, actually. Those fuckers are all off their heads on quaaludes.

InternationalVicar - 27 Feb 2017 08:24:04 (#7 of 149)

I want to see how it all ends.

invicta - 27 Feb 2017 08:28:28 (#8 of 149)

Nothing is foolproof, rosy, because fools are ingenious.

Gotout - 27 Feb 2017 08:30:29 (#9 of 149)

It's all Trumps fault. Had it been over here it would naturally have been Corbyn's fault.

invicta - 27 Feb 2017 08:36:37 (#10 of 149)

The Oscars snafu was obviously an establishment response to #oscarssowhite. If they're going to win best picture, we're not going to let them enjoy it....

GreenFuture - 01 Mar 2017 22:23:34 (#11 of 149)

There are 3 approaches (which can be mixed and matched)

1)Enjoy it, as per OP

2)Let it drive you mad (there's a lot of it about)

For UK stuff I employ 3, but can slip into 2

For US stuff I kind of engage 1 and some slippage into 2. But fully aware that it's easy for white males like me to laugh at the trump chaos if I am not a victim. Privelige writ large.

allsteadyngruff - 01 Mar 2017 22:39:18 (#12 of 149)

I'm enjoying it.

1OffManMental - 01 Mar 2017 22:51:25 (#13 of 149)

I'm not enjoying it. In case that wasn't abundantly obvious.

1OffManMental - 01 Mar 2017 22:52:10 (#14 of 149)

If I thought the people responsible would get theirs I might be.

As it is I think they're going to burn everything down them blame Them Muslims.

1OffManMental - 01 Mar 2017 22:53:01 (#15 of 149)

It cannot last

Why so?

(3 post ment boggle boggle boggle)

Sunfish - 01 Mar 2017 23:00:50 (#16 of 149)

Oh, loving it of course. I'd have been great in the Blitz, home on leave and singing songs round the joanna, bitter in hand and a slanted service cap on my patriotic bonce, while Jerry bombs rained down and the buxom barmaid quivered at my insouciance.

1OffManMental - 01 Mar 2017 23:01:31 (#17 of 149)

This is all your fault.

Sunfish - 01 Mar 2017 23:02:50 (#18 of 149)

"Run Menters, run Menters, run, run, run..."

We've lived through a very unusual period of time.

For the vast majority of recorded history mankind has been at war. Violence was the rule, not the exception.

Then there was The War To End All Wars, only it wasn't. And the war that followed that one involved concerted, and almost entirely successful, attempts to exterminate whole categories of people.

After the large sections of Europe were reduced to smoking rubble the eastern half was absorbed into another monstrous dictatorship responsible for millions of deaths.

But since then there has been peace in Europe. Trade and travel, not war and extermination.

The terrible dictatorship collapsed and the trend for peace and prosperity spread.

And now... well attitudes and ideologies that we thought had been beaten have taken over in America, and a wilful fascistic stupidness is driving the UK. And these countries are now undermining the foundations of the structures that lead to those years of peace and prosperity.

There are no grown ups waiting in the wings to bang heads together. The morons are in charge, and among the things they don't know is how moronic they are.

I'd love to believe that this chaos and stupidity is temporary. However I don't see how it draws to close.

PwC have made a few big recent audit blunders (bordering on total incompetence/fraud assistance) I believe - which they have overshadowed by the Academy awards blunder. This is now the big PwC news anyway and no-one will really give a shit about it next week.
