Transgender Issues That Generally Can Of Course Be Discussed

Welcome Back to the topic repeatedly hailed as bequeathing us the best thread of the year.

Last thread had gone past 10000 anyway.

Be careful out there...

Admin Comment:This subject is not taboo; we just ask that you maintain a civil and constructive tone. A diverse range of views and opinions are welcome, provided they adhere to the T&Cs.

I honestly have no idea how the other thread transgressed the T&Cs. Are we not allowed to express our concern about men self IDing as women in order to gain access to women and girls for entirely nefarious motives?

Crayola - 12 Oct 2018 15:09:04 (#2 of 4938)

Predatory men using an opportunity to gain access to women and girls. Like some always have.

That's not about being trans. It's about predatory men using an opportunity to access women and girls. Like some always have.

I'm not really sure what's so complicated about that.

Predatory men

freddy - 12 Oct 2018 15:12:45 (#4 of 4938)

I’m not sure saying self ID could make that easier is complicated either.

I also agree, but there are plenty of things self ID also helps with. For the people for whom it is a life saver for example.

Do they just get brushed aside? I agree it's not perfect, but the more that people talk about these predatory men as the biggest issue, the more that trans people get hated.

There are very few minority groups that get talked about like this.

The thing about Real Journalism is, it marches in in bovver boots where most fear to tiptoe.

Lawlsie - 12 Oct 2018 15:22:33 (#8 of 4938)

A minority group of one that gets a lotta lotta hate on here

freddy - 12 Oct 2018 15:24:00 (#9 of 4938)

So born woman are to be put at more risk from men because biological men will be allowed to simply say they are woman. You don’t think rape and sexual predators leads also to suicide?

Brunothecat - 12 Oct 2018 15:26:18 (#10 of 4938)

Have three khazis, add a new one with a ?.

monkeymadchick - 12 Oct 2018 15:28:55 (#11 of 4938)

If you are suicidal will self ID lead to not suicidal? I would suggest suicidal tendencies ought not to simply be brushed aside with a self -id is the cure. I know when I came out, even though it was relief, my problems simply did not end there.

freddy - 12 Oct 2018 15:29:19 (#12 of 4938)

Well, yes have a gender nutural option but not at the expense of woman or non men as some greens called them

Crayola - 12 Oct 2018 15:34:20 (#13 of 4938)

As someone who has been raped interestingly enough I do know how it feels.

That's not the point though. It's all that's ever talked about. Which denigrates a whole group of people. Stopping predatory men is not about trans. It has nothing to do with trans.

But I've given up on this thread already. As said elsewhere on the boards, who wants to listen to a whole lod of cis people talking about trans.

I might go and start a thread about islam, but only ever talk about bombers. That could be fun.

FrankieTeardrop - 12 Oct 2018 15:34:29 (#14 of 4938)

Should women be able to set up and maintain women only spaces? Should all women shortlists be reserved for women? Should we be teaching 5 year old children that there are pink and blue brains, each if which has fixed interests, and that if you like interests others than those you “should” like, you must be born in the wrong body?

Crayola - 12 Oct 2018 15:37:51 (#15 of 4938)

I think all of those things could and should be discussed. That wasn't my issue with the other thread.

My issue was the vehement denigration of a whole group of people. By (usually) cis men. And indeed some people clearly doing it for shits and giggles.

Lawlsie - 12 Oct 2018 15:38:04 (#16 of 4938)

I find the term cis offensive. Am I allowed to say that?

Also I do not identify as a woman. I am a woman. An adult female human. Am I allowed to say that?

Crayola should gay women be told they must have sex with male-bodied female identifying lesbians? Men another words. Should gay women be coerced into penetrative or oral sex with men who identify as lesbians? Am I allowed to ask that?

GyratingTrampoline - 12 Oct 2018 15:40:12 (#17 of 4938)

Has anyone actually suggested that anyone should have to have sex with anyone they don't want to?

Crayola - 12 Oct 2018 15:40:56 (#18 of 4938)

A few nut jobs,

But facts aren't lawslie's strong point.

FrankieTeardrop - 12 Oct 2018 15:41:22 (#19 of 4938)

I and several other posters find being labeled with the term "cis" rather aggressive and othering, I think the debate would benefit from its absence.
