The JTT Gratitude Diary

Given the incredible health benefits now being linked to gratitude, as discussed in the article below, perhaps it would be beneficial to JTT users to have a gratitude diary where we can list three things we are grateful for each day:

"Study after study has found a robust association between higher levels of gratitude and wellbeing, including protect on from stress and depression, more fulfilling relationships, better sleep and greater resilience."

This sounds like something I need. So here's my three:

I am thankful for my children.

I am thankful my recent vasectomy went well.

I am thankful that I recently met a good weed guy.

Like the article I struggled a bit there. I'm going to try and keep on and post here every day.

Great thread FT thanks for starting it!

Well obviously if you have three things to be grateful for every day you’re goung to be pretty chuffed. I would be too if I was being handed stuff.

FrankieTeardrop - 23 Oct 2018 09:23:23 (#3 of 75)

Thanks for posting on it, I'm grateful someone did.

Interesting to see Buddhist concepts permeating further and further into our culture.

I'm grateful for our beautiful daughter

I'm grateful for her wonderful mother

I'm grateful for daughter's wonderful grandparents

I'm grateful for the woman who gave me a seat on our bus this morning

I'm grateful for the person who made me my breakfast toast

I'm grateful for the skills of the physio who I will see later today

I'm grateful for the bus driver who took me to work

I'm grateful for the heating engineer who will fix our central heating this week

I'm grateful to johnnythesailor for running this site

Agaliarept - 23 Oct 2018 09:25:20 (#4 of 75)

Jeez, I struggled to get three.

Can you be grateful for things that haven't happened yet?

What if your central heating person cancels?

FrankieTeardrop - 23 Oct 2018 09:25:51 (#5 of 75)

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

FrankieTeardrop - 23 Oct 2018 09:26:10 (#6 of 75)

"Can you be grateful for things that haven't happened yet?"

Who, exactly, are you asking?

Agaliarept - 23 Oct 2018 09:27:08 (#7 of 75)

Who, exactly, are you asking?

You! It's your thread!

I thought we were talking about things we had or had received, not things that haven't happened yet. Am I confused about how this works?

FrankieTeardrop - 23 Oct 2018 09:27:50 (#8 of 75)

"You! It's your thread!"

I'm not a priest, though. You can be grateful about anything you like.

"Am I confused about how this works?"

Over-thinking it, perhaps.

Interesting to see Buddhist concepts permeating further and further into our culture.

Is it a Buddhist concept?

Thank you for the world so sweet

Thank you for the food we eat

Thank you for the birds that sing

Thank you, Lord, for everything

is a dim and distant memory from primary school in the 60s/70s. I'm not sure how far Buddhism had permeated into the solid C of E thinking of the Infant School.

Over-thinking it, perhaps.

I was just following the header.

I read about similar concepts in the Diamond Cutter.

That, and thinking about every interaction you had, whether it was positive or negative, and reflecting on what was required to make the negative interactions positive.

I’m grateful my parents are here

I’m grateful my son is loving his birthday

I’m grateful LEGO was invented.

FrankieTeardrop - 23 Oct 2018 09:33:28 (#13 of 75)

Are you grateful to the people who transport Lego to the shops?

FrankieTeardrop - 23 Oct 2018 09:33:39 (#14 of 75)

Happy birthday TRaney Jr!

SheikYerbouti - 23 Oct 2018 09:33:57 (#15 of 75)

I am grateful for the things I can change

And grateful for the things I cannot change

And grateful if I can see the difference.

There you go, Frankers. Stick that on your greetings card!

TRaney - 23 Oct 2018 09:34:30 (#16 of 75)

I thought it was just three things?

TR Jr says thanks Internet wrongmo

Agaliarept - 23 Oct 2018 09:34:41 (#17 of 75)

I’m grateful LEGO was invented.

Lets see you post that when you step on some! :D

FrankieTeardrop - 23 Oct 2018 09:35:30 (#18 of 75)

"There you go, Frankers. Stick that on your greetings card!"

I have it tattooed on the inside of my eyelids.

I'm grateful that there is a hill on the north coast of Somerset called Selworthy Beacon. It's a place loved by both my father and myself. we both gain comfort from seeing it there, driving the road along its crest, and sitting in the car park at the end of the road, looking west across the land and the sea.

Part of Exmoor, but separated by the Vale of Porlock, it stands, quietly resolute; a reminder that it was there long before we were, and will still be there long after we've left.

It's a gentle friend, standing watch between the sea and the Summerlands.

TommyDGNR8 - 23 Oct 2018 09:47:04 (#20 of 75)

I'm grateful that I do a job I find satisfying

I'm grateful for the love of LadyD

I'm grateful that TRaney's probably going to stand on a Lego brick before bedtime
