Should I complain?

So there's this bus driver on my route who is terrible.

He speed over the limit so we always end up at the next stop early and have to wait before leaving. As he is driving so fast he always overshoots the stop and stops past where he's supposed to. I've seen elderly passengers struggle to get up the step to the bus as he isn't near the kerb.

He pulls away at top speed while you're still on the stairs and i've seen more than one person stumble.

Then on Friday I got off the bus at one of the last stops. The bus doesn't allow passengers on at this point and this old homeless guy tried getting on the bus. The driver shut the doors with him halfway through and then started to drive off, dragging the guy by his trapped head and arm on the road.

He did stop but didn't check at all if the guy was ok.

Should I complain? I'm partly not sure as he's a foreign guy and who wants to be the one who complains about the only black bus driver on my route? another consideration is I'm worried he will know it was me. I was the last passenger on the bus that night and in the morning I'm the only one at my stop. I worry he won't stop fro me next time!

What do posters think? I think this guy is dangerous so I should say something but I'm chickening out.

Complain about something other than the last incident which would identify you as the informant.

All the stuff in the header is part and parcel of bus travel.

If #1 really happened, then it sounds like a criminal offence and there's probably on-board CCTV.

All the stuff in the header is part and parcel of bus travel.

Not for every other bus driver on my route. We have a lot of elderly passengers down here in Eastbourne and most of our drivers are great.

If #1 really happened, then it sounds like a criminal offence and there's probably on-board CCTV.

It definitely happened.

Sorry, Ags - should have read "...as you describe"; I'm not doubting your story.

RosyLovelady - 30 Oct 2018 12:58:19 (#6 of 35)

You can surely complain without personal reprisals. You aren't the only person using the bus route.

FrankieTeardrop - 30 Oct 2018 12:58:25 (#7 of 35)

"Should I complain?"

Definitely. I complained a couple of times when I was hobbling about on crutches and treated appallingly by bus drivers.

"All the stuff in the header is part and parcel of bus travel."

It shouldn't be. I'd complain if a bus driver pulled away and made me stumble (in fact, I did complain).

Moschops - 30 Oct 2018 12:59:42 (#9 of 35)

Yeah, I'd complain.

FrankieTeardrop - 30 Oct 2018 13:00:02 (#10 of 35)

If it happens again, tell him you'll be making a complaint, too.

Agaliarept - 30 Oct 2018 13:00:08 (#11 of 35)

You aren't the only person using the bus route.

But I was the only passenger on the bus when this happened.

Definitely. I complained a couple of times when I was hobbling about on crutches and treated appallingly by bus drivers.

The job does seem to be one of the last bastions where the truly anti social can still get work.

solomongursky - 30 Oct 2018 13:00:24 (#12 of 35)

You can demand the cctv.

If it happens again, tell him you'll be making a complaint, too.

Seems a bit confrontational.

Agaliarept - 30 Oct 2018 13:00:53 (#14 of 35)

You can demand the cctv.

That's a good point. I might do some digging on that.

FrankieTeardrop - 30 Oct 2018 13:00:58 (#15 of 35)

Needn't be. Just say "you pulled away too fast before I sat down." And "you were reckless driving away with someone trapped in the doors".

I suspect at least part of the reason why I was treated badly is that hobbling round on crutches, while dazed from painkillers, led the driver to believe I was homeless, too.

Agaliarept - 30 Oct 2018 13:04:20 (#16 of 35)

Needn't be. Just say "you pulled away too fast before I sat down." And "you were reckless driving away with someone trapped in the doors".

When it happened I was shocked, I ran to the guy and started to help him up while looking at the driver and saying "Jesus fucking christ mate".

He just ignored I was there..

FrankieTeardrop - 30 Oct 2018 13:05:11 (#17 of 35)

He shouldn't be driving buses. Simple as that.

solomongursky - 30 Oct 2018 13:05:34 (#18 of 35)

Wanker. So many paid drivers hate their job and take it out on people.

Agaliarept - 30 Oct 2018 13:05:44 (#19 of 35)

He shouldn't be driving buses. Simple as that.

Totally agree.

thisonehasalittlehat - 30 Oct 2018 13:08:31 (#20 of 35)

Although he sounds like he'd be useful in a zombie apocalypse.
