America 'tools up'

“It’s this mass pandemic fear around arming the nation,” he said. “We see things we’ve never seen before, like single moms with strollers and grandmas buying shotguns.”

What are Americans proposing to do with their 9 million extra guns ?

It's the response to the current 'defund the police' efforts in certain urban areas, plus the current crime waves in those same urban areas.

O’Healy said new buyers were not necessarily conservatives.

“We’ve had people in here with Biden-Harris masks saying they want something small for their purse. We have to say, ‘Sorry, lady, it takes eight to 18 months to get a handgun permit.”

Such customers get mad, O’Healy said. “Everybody is excited to control stuff until it controls you. We say, ‘Well, you voted for stricter gun controls. So get in line and join everybody else.’”

call me a cynic but it sounds like he is making tbat up

Must be a hell of a marksman/woman to be able to shoot a virus.

Americans are all born that way.

hey, I wear my fringed buckskin shirt to court. even though I must wear a suitcoat on top of it. you never know when there will be an emergency. these days, viruses are all over the place.

of course I have to leave my rifle outside, with the court officers. but they keep me in mind, for trouble.

is there any real evidence that more people are getting guns or is it the same nuts piling up more?

bossab2 - 02 Aug 2021 23:30:38 (#12 of 17)

America of course has more guns than people

Arjuna - 02 Aug 2021 23:59:28 (#13 of 17)

However, gun ownership is becoming less common across the country. One in three U.S. households owned firearms in 2016, down from nearly half in 1990, according to the RAND Corp think tank.

Certain Americans have been always looking to buy more guns based on irrational fears. E.g., a decade ago, the TP types thought Obama, the commie terrorist pal, was coming for their guns.

Putting more guns in the hands of people with irrational fears is what their founding fathers perhaps wanted.

of course. that's why the Supreme Court ruled that the states could not regulate the armaments of their well regulated militias.

I think belief in the 'Wild West' myth may be partly to blame.

Note: DUEL scene, ffs.
