This is the thread to share trade routes, tips on weapon load outs, brags about killing Anacondas with a Sidewinder and whinges about the lack of off-line play....

I presume Elite is now available on modern gaming platforms and you are not playing it, as I once did, on a BBC Micro?
Why no Offline Play? WHY?
This could be Simcity all over again. Is it any good though kerebus?
I hated elite. My god was that a rubbish game. A poorly thought out and rushed commercial tie-in with little intrinsic gameplay, still more awful design, and a confusing plot. What's the point of a game you can't die in!!? And the collision detection was terrible! And that rubbish attempt at an isometric environment! No winder it was sent to landfill.
Go away.

Hang on. That was ET wasn't it.
Elite was amazing and I only had the rubbish tape loading version on my BBC.
Yes sorry i was thinking of et. Don't know about elite. Never heard of it.
One of the few computer games I ever really enjoyed.
Did it run on the mark 1 computer?
The only problem I had with Elite was when people used to brag about what status they had on it.
For example, I am Dangerous, what are you?
BTW, I never owned Elite so I did not join in said arguments
Harmless
I don't think I got much above mostly harmless on the BBC. I mostly just flew about a bit, docked, then got bored and shot at a space station so cops in vipers (?) killed me.
I still run it in a DOS sandbox. It's like being 25 again.
I used to have a wonderful version of Elite on my Handspring (proto tablet, based on the Palm device). It used to be able to do all the Elite things, but could also be played as a simple starship trading game, without any ship flying or combat. lovely little game to play when taking the train home in the evenings.
