It was at: http://justthetalk.com/itandcomputers/87/pc__virus

I wonder how many PCV&W posts that makes in total over here and GUT?

Paging Ebadlun...

Gotout - 04 May 2015 13:24:51 (#3 of 8653)

Last time I checked the Ebadluniser was down.

xbod72 - 04 May 2015 13:26:43 (#4 of 8653)

That's weird. Accessing this thread logged me out. It's very rare that I get logged out.

xbod72 - 04 May 2015 13:27:03 (#5 of 8653)

So there's a question for you! :O)

flowbagging - 04 May 2015 13:35:18 (#6 of 8653)

Did you come to it from Notthetalk?

ubername - 04 May 2015 14:40:43 (#7 of 8653)

Any way of 'closing' the old thread so people come here instead?

Occasional, I may do a search of a thread. Do you mean it will still exist but not post on it?

tasselhoff - 04 May 2015 18:44:02 (#9 of 8653)

I never followed the last one. I may keep an eye on the shiny new one though.

JohnIlly - 04 May 2015 18:44:21 (#10 of 8653)

#8 It has been done with a few threads which got too big for comfort.

It's still there and searchable. You can't post on it though.

Anyone else tried to discover what all those Optional Updates MS offered last month on not-Patch Tuesday? The info they are supplying is pretty damned useless. I've found most of them but there are some that no one seems to have explained whether, for instance Custom Media Size entries are missing in the Print Capabilities document for version 4.0 printer drivers or Update helps to determine whether to migrate the .NET Framework 1.1 when you upgrade Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 are of any practical use.

Email the mods.

It is closed already.

Thought about it then installed them anyway - W10 being a clean sheet just around the corner.

Weren't offered on the W8.1 Tablet, though - only on the W8.1Pro Laptop. Don't know whether that's relevant?

flowbagging - 04 May 2015 21:58:41 (#16 of 8653)

Some of them were really obscure though, display of Korean characters in something or other. Smacks of not being able to refuse the W10 update which seems to have a big push to it.

Dementor - 04 May 2015 22:13:56 (#17 of 8653)

Found this article:

- references:

Looks like genuine updates (I had wondered if it was malware related, tbh - paranoid, I guess).

flowbagging - 04 May 2015 22:52:00 (#18 of 8653)

Yes, I've read those but nether actually explain what the fuck they do. If I see one that's related to Korean characters (or that one about Samoan Summer Time) I know I can ignore it, but version 4.0 printer drivers or migrate the .NET Framework 1.1, no one seems to know what any of that means.

It's sodding MS, they should be able to explain what this stuff does.

tasselhoff - 04 May 2015 23:00:32 (#19 of 8653)

If it's optional and it seems exotic, just ignore it.

flowbagging - 04 May 2015 23:30:43 (#20 of 8653)

I'm not going to install them, I simply want to know what they are.
