iTunes Mac - where are my TV programs?

Since Netflix etc, I've not really bothered to watch locally downloaded TV and movies on the Mac.

The other day, I realised that I wanted to watch something that wasn't available on my streaming subscriptions. So, having realised that Apple TV is now where all of that is supposed to be located, I opened the app. Nothing.

So I signed into the TV app with the same login as iTunes used to be. Nothing. So I searched my hard drive in all the usal locations. No files.

So, what has Apple done to my TV and movie video files?

I'm using Catalina.

Is the login you used your AppleID? From what I've read, they should still be in the Cloud though equally, some seem not to have solved the problem.

I’ve got most of the file wbacked up somewhere. But it’s a question of whether it will work.

Are you trying to play something from your hard drive? You'll need to import the files into the Apple TV app on your Mac

The files have disappeared since the OS update.

So yes, I’ll have to pull them from a backup drive. But it’s a bizarre way to run a software update.

It’s the fucking arrogance of them that really pisses me off. Like “ooh we've got a new way of doing things via THE CLOUD, so we’re going to fuck up your workflow without notice”.
