"There will be a secondary mechanism to get in or out of the car beyond the app."

A wire coat hanger?

RosyLovelady - 21 Nov 2021 08:32:18 (#2 of 43)

App outage sparks outrage

Tinymcsmithy - 21 Nov 2021 08:33:53 (#3 of 43)

A wire coat hanger?

A key?

browserbutton - 21 Nov 2021 08:34:37 (#4 of 43)

A brick?

Tinymcsmithy - 21 Nov 2021 08:35:33 (#5 of 43)

Thought had crossed my mind.

Dubris - 21 Nov 2021 08:37:30 (#6 of 43)

But people who'd primarily been using the app presumably didn't have the key to hand, because they weren't expecting to need it.

Which is unfortunate.

Dementor - 21 Nov 2021 08:37:45 (#7 of 43)

I wouldn’t try the wire coat hanger trick with an electric vehicle - you might get zapped.

toffle - 21 Nov 2021 09:28:17 (#8 of 43)

A brick?

People will be literally bricking their bricked cars.

Tenesmus - 21 Nov 2021 09:31:45 (#9 of 43)

<drives past immobile smugmobiles in 16 year old car, waving>

toffle - 21 Nov 2021 09:32:44 (#10 of 43)

you might get zapped

Like the Magna-Volt system in Robocop...

A wire coat hanger?

An unfolded paper clip, surely?

upgoerfive - 21 Nov 2021 12:28:55 (#12 of 43)

Leave your car for five minutes, when you come back the wheels are missing and it's propped up on four MacPros.

Policywatcher - 21 Nov 2021 22:39:19 (#13 of 43)

bricked?

ReverendBlueJeans - 21 Nov 2021 22:51:07 (#14 of 43)

If you need an 'app' for something, at some point you'll experience major disappointment or inconvenience.

JohnIlly - 21 Nov 2021 22:58:06 (#15 of 43)

Wise words.

dmlc133 - 21 Nov 2021 23:01:01 (#16 of 43)

I'm no fan of Tesla or Musk, but it's not as though petrol cars never go wrong, is it?

ReverendBlueJeans - 21 Nov 2021 23:04:13 (#17 of 43)

All at once?

kvelertak - 21 Nov 2021 23:10:39 (#18 of 43)

Hope they iron the glitch out soon, be bad to get stranded on Moon or Mars for want of a car key.

JohnIlly - 21 Nov 2021 23:12:01 (#19 of 43)

Obviously the app relies on an internet connection. I though the range of these cars was quite good, so not carrying something which avoids that need seems a little unwise. There are places where you can't even get a mobile phone signal.

kvelertak - 21 Nov 2021 23:12:32 (#20 of 43)

#18 Though if it happened to Bezos or Musk, I'd laugh like a drain.
