Is Blame It On Rio the worst Michael Caine film ever?

It surely has to be a contender. Any other Micklewhite stinkers that people want to throw into the ring?

The Swarm, surely.

At least Blame It On Rio has some gratuitous boobage to relieve the tedium for a few seconds.

That one where he snogs Superman?

JerkinMcGherkin - 12 Jun 2012 17:29:59 (#4 of 129)

That'll be Deathtrap. A decent play parodying the murder mystery, from Christie to Sleuth. I saw the recent west end production with Simon Russell Beale in the Caine part.

He's truly awful in Noises Off

How about Hurry Sundown?

Little Voice is a shitawful film, oddly MC is the best thing in it.

#6 quite possibly the worst southern accent evuhhhhh! Y'all.

Leftie - 12 Jun 2012 21:22:03 (#9 of 129)

Rev, that was "Jaws: The Revenge". Some utter cobblers about the shark or a shark should I say, deliberately coming for Brody's wife's family or some such shite.

Caine said he'd never seen it but he has seen the house that he bought with the money.

Nice to see him putting art first...

darkhorse - 12 Jun 2012 22:23:33 (#10 of 129)

As Jaws 3 has already been bagged, I will nominate Caine's turn as the baddy in the Stephen Seagal movie On Deadly Ground.

To my shame, I saw that film in a cinema on a work geeks' night out.

Leftie - 12 Jun 2012 22:31:28 (#11 of 129)

That was 4, not 3.

darkhorse - 12 Jun 2012 22:32:28 (#12 of 129)

Ah sorry, I stopped at 2. As did the repeats on ITV3.

solomongursky - 12 Jun 2012 22:33:43 (#13 of 129)

Harry Brown is the shitest Maurice fillum ever.

A good solo turn is never enough to save a stinker though. And forever after, one's name is associated with the ghastly thing.

Anybody with any sense ought to run a mile.

Caine seems to do pretty much anything offered, look at his IMDb entry, he's averaged probably three roles a year for much of the last 50 years.

MorrisMitchener - 13 Jun 2012 16:37:07 (#18 of 129)

I saw bit of Hurry Sundown on telly once. You can see why he's not attempted an accent since...

Jaws:The Revenge is pretty terrible. Get Carter remake is pretty poor too. As for On Deadly Ground (Un film de Steven Seagal!)my memory is, thankfully, blurry!

Like Donald Pleasance before him Caine is a working actor. He's not all that bothered what the work is. Kind of the opposite of someone like Daniel Day Lewis.
