Panel tonight: Iain Duncan Smith, former UN Dep General Lord Malloch Brown, Margaret Beckett, David Starkey & economist Liam Halligan. In Derby

Lawlsie - 03 Mar 2011 17:02:49 (#2 of 16266)

I think Margaret Beckett's seat's in Derby. Anyway, I won't be watching but enjoy.

baldricsparsnip - 03 Mar 2011 18:42:01 (#3 of 16266)

Thanks Lawls, she is indeed in Derby, I have been known to harangue her in person on occasion

Ripliad - 03 Mar 2011 23:36:56 (#4 of 16266)

Well this is a great site, so thanks again, Johnny, but we do need more people on it. I chose to post on the Graun during this programme, simply because more people were there. Ironic, really!

baldricsparsnip - 03 Mar 2011 23:42:25 (#5 of 16266)

Yes me too - ooh the the box has one small

baldricsparsnip - 03 Mar 2011 23:42:36 (#6 of 16266)

Good grief, and I hate commenting on clothes, but what on earth is AN wearing on This Week? It looks like an aviator jacket made out of a binliner, with fur.

Ripliad - 03 Mar 2011 23:47:41 (#9 of 16266)

I do think this is the easier site to negotiate so it would be good to get people over here for next week's QT, but I don't want to take traffic away from Tass's site because he's done such a good job. Tricky, this diplomacy lark!

Ripliad - 03 Mar 2011 23:56:39 (#10 of 16266)

Michael Howard gurning like a loon, and talking about the debt they inherited. Grrrr!

three post ment, sorry ....

baldricsparsnip - 03 Mar 2011 23:56:51 (#11 of 16266)

You should be in politics, Ripliad.

Nighty night

Thanks garrick box back to normal - phew

Ripliad - 04 Mar 2011 00:02:26 (#12 of 16266)

Clearly I shouldn't, baldric!

Tass has done brilliant work, but this site does have some advantages for quick discourse!

That was a surprisingly dull QT this evening, given the insane Starkey was on it. If anyone didn't see the programme on C4 earlier this week about Jamie Oliver setting up a school for kids who have not made the grade, I urge you to watch it on catch up. Starkey thought it was a good idea to tell his class they were failures and one lad he said was so fat, he probably found it hard to move. Amazing!

Apparently it's here!

I'm quite an old fashioned sort when it comes to education, personally, but I do think it comes to a sorry pass when a teacher starts to use the language of the playground. "Loser" (OK, he used "failure") and "fat" as insults from a teacher to his class?

OK, he's used to having university students hanging on his every word, but how dim to you have to be to realise kids of that age and with that educational background are not going to fall over you?

Whilst I don't think teachers should roll over and die when a child is rude, personal insults are just stupid.

(Four post ment!)

baldricsparsnip - 04 Mar 2011 16:40:51 (#14 of 16266)

I couldn't agree more Ripliad, it was shocking, fortunately they are thinking about dismissing him - yeah!

HerrWalrus - 05 Mar 2011 09:31:15 (#15 of 16266)

It does show a lack of intelligence to behave in that way.

baldricsparsnip - 10 Mar 2011 09:29:50 (#16 of 16266)

From Edinburgh - Panel this week: Douglas Alexander, Nick Ferrari, Annabel Goldie, Patrick Harvie (ScotGreens), SoS Michael Moore and Nicola Sturgeon. Will it make us sweary?

shadwell - 10 Mar 2011 16:15:19 (#17 of 16266)

Fuck, yes!

shadwell - 10 Mar 2011 16:17:05 (#18 of 16266)

Are we doing it here or on thegraun tonight?

baldricsparsnip - 10 Mar 2011 16:38:58 (#19 of 16266)

I was thinking of trying here tonight as the page refreshes a lot more quickly than the graun site. But it will be weird if I'm just menting at myself (well, OK not that weird)

MrsFlaps - 10 Mar 2011 22:36:47 (#20 of 16266)

These people are rubbish. Particularly Nicola Sturgeon, who has a name like a fish.
