The Mash Report - BBC2's new topical comedy show.

Starting tonight. It has writers from the UK's Onion-like website, The Daily Mash. Please let it be funny.

Anyone interested in John Oliver should listen to this. It does relate to The Mash Report, if off to the side of it.

They should stop cutting to Nish when Parris is doing her bits, unless he's in dialogue with her. Otherwise it looks very much like the Trump clapping himself that they took the piss out of.

it does go a bit against their self styled image to focus on the male host so much

I think the main problem is the show isn't topical enough, its mainly broad stroke stuff about Trump, Brexit and snowflakes. The Trump bit did reference the Piers Morgan interview but that was about a week ago.

It's also become formulaic in no time. I never had a sense of such rigidity with TWTWTW aka TW3. (That Was The Week ...)

HouseOfLametta - 02 Feb 2018 09:37:38 (#146 of 365)

TFC (Thanks for clarifying).

uranrising - 02 Feb 2018 09:51:38 (#147 of 365)

plezh. mutual.

Satire shows have always tried hard to be up to the minute, in an age of 24 hour news Mash Report seems a bit lethargic.

ChankNolen - 02 Feb 2018 12:29:55 (#149 of 365)

You can't satirise the Establishment if you ARE the Establishment.

AlanII - 02 Feb 2018 12:38:35 (#150 of 365)

Farage comes close at times and Johnson manages it regularly.

Arjuna - 02 Feb 2018 12:41:10 (#151 of 365)

well all kinds of establishment types rant about the establishment, I saw a kipper doing it on the news once - then the text came up saying he was the Earl of Dartmouth.

TWTWTW aka TW3. (That Was The Week ...)

You really made things difficult for yourself there, didn't you.

It's over, let it go.

The Mash's job is done: it has upset Piers Morgan.

Great. Though they forgot the key words 'highly collectible' in the blurb.

uranrising - 05 Feb 2018 12:36:31 (#158 of 365)

or as we write in Britain (not often enough), ''highly collectable'. (Able to be collected.)

frantastic - 05 Feb 2018 13:23:54 (#159 of 365)

Yes, I thought 'collectable' but the interweb keeps telling me 'collectible' . Is this a 'two nations divided by a common lingo' U.S. thing?

browserbutton - 05 Feb 2018 13:25:10 (#160 of 365)

Both are correct.
