The Mash Report - BBC2's new topical comedy show.

Starting tonight. It has writers from the UK's Onion-like website, The Daily Mash. Please let it be funny.

Its a bit worrying when a show is in the sub Dave category

Bribaba - 24 Feb 2018 11:59:38 (#202 of 365)

Not as bad as QI but then what is?

SinnerBoy - 26 Feb 2018 12:39:59 (#203 of 365)

barafundle -

Try Unspun XL with Matt Ford on Dave.

I watched that last night, just gave it a try. I haven't heard of it before.

I enjoyed it.

Sinner - glad you enjoyed it.

Definitely better than Mash Report IMHO

frantastic - 27 Feb 2018 15:04:52 (#205 of 365)

I'd watch that if it weren't for Matt Ford(e) who I find irritating.

xbod72 - 27 Feb 2018 16:23:31 (#206 of 365)

Yes, he's the reason I haven't bothered with it thus far.

Ch4 has a thing called News Crack on 11pm tonight, another topical comedy. Title, perilously close to Radio 4 Extra's 'Newsjack'.

Arjuna - 12 Jul 2018 16:08:55 (#208 of 365)

perfectly timed for more Trump and Brexit gags

xbod72 - 12 Jul 2018 22:56:37 (#209 of 365)

I've started a thread for Crack.

New series of Mash Report starts tonight. Wasn't on Friday before, was it.

So that now means THREE topical comedies from the BBC on a Friday, which seems a bit of an odd scheduling decision.

YogiMeerfield - 26 Oct 2018 17:23:19 (#211 of 365)

HIGNFY makes two. What's the third?

GyratingTrampoline - 26 Oct 2018 17:24:36 (#212 of 365)

Glad they're doing another series, I enjoyed the 1st

xbod72 - 26 Oct 2018 17:25:38 (#213 of 365)

Yogi, The News Quiz on Radio 4.

xbod72 - 26 Oct 2018 17:26:24 (#214 of 365)

I have my bugbears with Mash but, yes, glad to see it back.

YogiMeerfield - 26 Oct 2018 17:29:03 (#215 of 365)

Ah, radio. Must admit I've gone off both TNQ and HIGNFY. Both seem a bit stale these days.

xbod72 - 26 Oct 2018 17:34:35 (#216 of 365)

I find I look forward to both each week and then don't enjoy them as much as I hoped. I think there is some staleness but I think, also, just after so many years of tuning in it's a matter of slowly having become over-familiar with them. So it's both them and me working in concert to feel a sense of diminishing returns.

Arjuna - 26 Oct 2018 17:54:01 (#217 of 365)

Mash was a bit mixed last time round but the BBC are great believers in letting shows iron things out ina sexond run, lets hope its improved.

My only worry is that some bits like that token tory were running a bit thin last time round.

whitbreadtrophy - 27 Oct 2018 12:59:21 (#218 of 365)

My only worry is that some bits like that token tory were running a bit thin last time round.

I think there was a wish on the part of the programme makers to have a genuinely funny right-winger on the show. The trouble is that, regardless of his politics, Geoff Norcott is a crap comedian.

Otherwise I enjoyed last night's show.

moto748 - 28 Oct 2018 15:20:37 (#219 of 365)

So did I. I even laughed at their Corbyn gag.

frantastic - 28 Oct 2018 15:43:28 (#220 of 365)

The news reports are the best bits.
