The Mash Report - BBC2's new topical comedy show.

Starting tonight. It has writers from the UK's Onion-like website, The Daily Mash. Please let it be funny.

TRaney - 12 Sep 2019 22:26:36 (#241 of 327)

That's closest to its website origins.

The singing bits are awful

moto748 - 13 Sep 2019 01:11:37 (#242 of 327)

Have there been two now? I watched the first new one, and thought it nowhere near as strong as the last series.

xbod72 - 13 Sep 2019 09:00:39 (#243 of 327)

I think two, aye.

Arjuna - 13 Sep 2019 09:37:45 (#244 of 327)

The satire never seems to bite, they all seem a bit too nice, it's like being savaged by a dead sheep.

I think most great satirists need to be at least a bit of a bastard.

FrankieTeardrop - 13 Sep 2019 09:39:45 (#245 of 327)

"Yeah they seem to put the opinion first then tack on the humour instead of the other way round."

Overtly political bands seem to have the same approach. Opinion first, tack tune on afterwards.

TRaney - 13 Sep 2019 09:40:32 (#246 of 327)

And they keep having that Tory boy on. I'm not opposed to tory comedians, but he's shit

Arjuna - 13 Sep 2019 09:41:16 (#247 of 327)

one trick pony

FrankieTeardrop - 13 Sep 2019 09:41:58 (#248 of 327)

"I'm not opposed to tory comedians"

Why not?

HouseOfLametta - 13 Sep 2019 09:42:03 (#249 of 327)

I'm sure there are some funny Tories.

TRaney - 13 Sep 2019 09:42:52 (#250 of 327)

Why not?

I lack moral fibre

HouseOfLametta - 13 Sep 2019 09:51:10 (#251 of 327)

I mean, there must be.

xbod72 - 13 Sep 2019 10:07:40 (#252 of 327)

There's that guy who does the R4 series called something like "In The Market". Grey beard. He's all right. In two senses.

xbod72 - 13 Sep 2019 10:08:05 (#253 of 327)

It must be '[Guy's name] goes to Market'.

Vendor - 13 Sep 2019 10:18:03 (#254 of 327)

Simon Evans, isn't it?

I've taken to watching TMR up to Norcott coming on, then firing up the Sky+ and watching Threads for a bit of comic relief.

carterbrandon - 13 Sep 2019 10:22:47 (#255 of 327)

Northcott is just doing Ricky Gervais's act way back from The 11 O'Clock Show, with Nish standing in for Iain Lee. And not nearly as well. Even got the same Brylcreem and t-shirt.

MrPurple - 13 Sep 2019 10:36:32 (#256 of 327)

The singing bits are awful

That's true of every comedy program, radio or TV. I wish they wouldn't do that.

TRaney - 13 Sep 2019 10:38:57 (#257 of 327)

Except for Richard Stilgoe. He was brilliant. And probably a Tory.

TRaney - 13 Sep 2019 10:40:42 (#258 of 327)

Wow, Stilgoe isn’t dead!

TRaney - 13 Sep 2019 10:40:52 (#259 of 327)

Hence the name I guess

HouseOfLametta - 13 Sep 2019 10:41:15 (#260 of 327)

That's the funniest thing he's ever done.
