The Mash Report - BBC2's new topical comedy show.

Starting tonight. It has writers from the UK's Onion-like website, The Daily Mash. Please let it be funny.

I have vague memories of a children's tv programme he hosted, a quiz which involved using the International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet - A for Alpha, F for Foxtrot.

TRaney - 13 Sep 2019 10:46:03 (#262 of 327)

Surely B comes before F

"there's a feeling of love that comes into being when we meet someone whose nature and morals are compatible with ours, for we think we see integrity and virtue burning brightly in them."

~ Cicero

It’s easy to make principles from our prejudices

TRaney -

I lack moral fibre

Have you tried 365 Organic Bran Flakes?

TRaney - 13 Sep 2019 11:28:10 (#266 of 327)

It comes out of you at all angles?

SinnerBoy - 13 Sep 2019 11:29:18 (#267 of 327)

No, it's morally acceptable fibre.

That's covered by "we think we see." :)

TRaney - 13 Sep 2019 12:02:51 (#269 of 327)

I know, I was just offering a more succinct version than that old windbag Tully.

xbod72 - 13 Sep 2019 12:47:39 (#270 of 327)

Ha ha! :)

There's a channel 4 topical thing tonight at 10pm. I think it's the first ever episode but not at all sure. Rob Rinder something something.

barafundle - 13 Sep 2019 20:11:36 (#272 of 327)

I keep trying to watch that Judge Rinder thing and even though he has interesting witty guests on, it all seems to fall rather flat. I don’t think his delivery is very convincing. Usually end up turning it off half way through.

Been on a couple of weeks now. Awful.

xbod72 - 13 Sep 2019 21:37:37 (#274 of 327)

Oh, bugger. I like good topical comedy and now I'm led not to expect it.

moto748 - 13 Sep 2019 22:23:21 (#275 of 327)

It's not brilliant, but perhaps the criticism is a little harsh. We certainly need something like this on TV.

I did like Corbyn and Watson on Love Island, though.

xbod72 - 19 Sep 2019 22:16:28 (#276 of 327)

Why did he give cuts in two figures as percent and the third as a raw figure?

xbod72 - 19 Sep 2019 22:19:24 (#277 of 327)

I liked the "Man sorts out a thing and wants a fucking medal for it" bit.

Ebadlun - 20 Sep 2019 01:51:32 (#278 of 327)

I did three things today. Yes THREE. Two emails, and I got a new resident's parking permit.

I don't want a major award, obviously, a CBE will be fine.

Ebadlun - 20 Sep 2019 02:04:26 (#279 of 327)

I'm still liking this, but I think it falls short of its US models - John Oliver and before him Jon Stewart were actually journalists working through the medium of comedy, whereas this is still comedy first.

John Oliver will happily do a 20-minute segment on US infrastructure or Turkmenistan, with a mind-blowing combination of holy-shit-is-this-for-real and belly laughs. I can't see Nish, or anyone else, doing that in the UK.
