The Mash Report - BBC2's new topical comedy show.

Starting tonight. It has writers from the UK's Onion-like website, The Daily Mash. Please let it be funny.

We are beyond satire now.

Satirist Bruce Jay Friedman thought we already were, back in the early 70s, after an American officer was reported as saying, "The village had to be bombed to be saved."

I thought satire was supposed to be dead since Kissenger won the nobel peace prize. Hasn't stopped the various satirists in the years since

For those of you preoccupied with a lack of right-wing comics I believe your prayers may have been answered.

Assuming this is now the generic satire thread - Chris Morris interviewed on Channel 4.

I liked his line about satire that placates the court - pretty much all UK satire right now.

Satire that pokes fun at Corbyn's anti-semitism, rather than the absurdity of Corbyn being considered anti-semitic, and the story behind it, for example.

FrankieTeardrop - 04 Oct 2019 10:40:47 (#327 of 365)

I don't think I've ever seen him be interviewed before. Quite strange seeing him out of character.

xbod72 - 08 May 2020 22:32:15 (#328 of 365)

I liked the joke about Trump being a person of colour. I suspect it's a joke that's been out on Twitter for yonks but I'd not previously heard it.

HouseOfLametta - 08 May 2020 22:34:47 (#329 of 365)

This guy has worse teeth than me.

moto748 - 08 May 2020 22:45:12 (#330 of 365)

Must be the heroin.

Verdigris - 08 May 2020 22:46:18 (#331 of 365)

What am I watching? Fell asleep at the end of MR.

TommyDGNR8 - 08 May 2020 22:49:14 (#332 of 365)

Norcott is the sort of right wing comedian that makes you long for the days of Manning and Davidson. He's fucking rubbish.

moto748 - 08 May 2020 22:57:19 (#333 of 365)

*Is* Norcott a 'right-wing comedian? I mean, I dunno, it's an act, a persona, is it anything more than that? I know nothing about the guy (I didn't even assume that it was his real name) other than what I've seen on the Mash report.

Verdigris - 08 May 2020 22:58:42 (#334 of 365)

Was Norcott on tonight? I think I may have nodded off before the end.

moto748 - 08 May 2020 23:03:00 (#335 of 365)

Tonight's a repeat, isn't it? I thought they said the last one with other day. I don't think he was, actually. They had that Italian (?) guy on for quite a while.

Verdigris - 08 May 2020 23:07:55 (#336 of 365)

I hadn't seen it before. Are you watching on i-player?

Norcott was on last week.

moto748 - 09 May 2020 01:34:05 (#337 of 365)

No, on the TV.

TommyDGNR8 - 09 May 2020 09:11:20 (#338 of 365)

If Norcott's schtick is an act, then he keeps it up offstage.

whitbreadtrophy - 09 May 2020 13:27:58 (#339 of 365)

*Is* Norcott a 'right-wing comedian?

Yes, he genuinely is. It's the old Auberon Waugh schtick of the shitstain reactionary pretending to be a shitstain reactionary.

moto748 - 09 May 2020 14:53:25 (#340 of 365)

OK, fairy nuff.
