The Mash Report - BBC2's new topical comedy show.

Starting tonight. It has writers from the UK's Onion-like website, The Daily Mash. Please let it be funny.

Even handed? American TV? I thought it was all the Liberal consensus making chortling late night newsertainment for their faithful and the furious Fox brigade concocting outrage for theirs!

I don't like the wooping audiences on those American shows. Sad!

xbod72 - 20 Jul 2017 18:24:18 (#6 of 365)

Therese wasn't saying US TV is even-handed.

While we wait for the comedy, here's a funny video with selected highlights from a computer game in which the physics don't behave as intended.

I hope it doesn't try to be even handed like most British telly these days. The Americans are so much better at this than us now.

I hope so - US satire is so devastating because its hosts have a discrete moral position. UK comedy is so keen to cock a snook at everyone it ends up saying nothing.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, it's the BBC. Even-handedness is to be expected. Then again, BBC2 did just finish it's Frankie Boyle show which was primarily anti-right.

Ebadlun - 20 Jul 2017 18:44:40 (#10 of 365)

Frankie's the closest we have to a Bill Maher.

xbod72 - 20 Jul 2017 21:59:30 (#11 of 365)

The Mash is nigh.

xbod72 - 20 Jul 2017 22:03:23 (#12 of 365)

I'm already thinking this would be better without an audience.

xbod72 - 20 Jul 2017 22:04:38 (#13 of 365)

And they should be playing it straight rather than with over-exaggerated performances.

Ebadlun - 20 Jul 2017 22:05:12 (#14 of 365)

I was about to say less overacting from the vox pops.

Ebadlun - 20 Jul 2017 22:07:15 (#15 of 365)

Oh for a British John Oliver..

xbod72 - 20 Jul 2017 22:10:28 (#16 of 365)

Indeed. And his writing team, of course.

Ebadlun - 20 Jul 2017 22:14:17 (#17 of 365)

The writing's ok, but someone get the cast enrolled in Paul Merton's deadpan bootcamp.

I went, it was very good.

xbod72 - 20 Jul 2017 22:14:22 (#18 of 365)

Referencing Last of The Summer Wine in 2017. Cutting edge stuff.

xbod72 - 20 Jul 2017 22:16:03 (#19 of 365)

See, the QI bloke talking about Trump is doing it right.

Ebadlun - 20 Jul 2017 22:16:20 (#20 of 365)

QI elf is good.

Ebadlun - 20 Jul 2017 22:16:54 (#21 of 365)

Stop reading my thoughts and posting them seconds before me.
