Cormoran Strike - JK Rowling thing on BBC1.

I thought that other adaptation of her non-Potter work, can't remember what it was about - a council budget or something? - was AWFUL. Let's see how this goes.

The Casual Vacancy? Yeah, it wasn't great. Hope this is a fair bit better

Well the books are much better, so it should be. I shall watch ...

I don't watch much TV drama but I don't think we often see snowy things in summer.

Arjuna - 27 Aug 2017 21:12:36 (#5 of 220)

is there any quidditch?

It sounds like the title of a sub- Tom Clancy techno thriller about war at sea.

Is this ramshackle detective using cocaine instead of hard licquor?

when is the Rowling thing on telly?

Verdigris - 27 Aug 2017 21:58:42 (#11 of 220)

On now.

mingmong - 27 Aug 2017 22:01:16 (#12 of 220)

So it is. Just catching the last few minutes.

xbod72 - 27 Aug 2017 22:04:32 (#13 of 220)

I thought each episode was gonna resolve itself but I figured out three quarters of the way in that was seeming unlikely. I guess if they're based on a book you're unlikely to fit a book into an hour.

Script seems rather lacking in spark. The whole urine in a cup thing seemed a bit of a waste of time.

xbod72 - 27 Aug 2017 22:05:07 (#14 of 220)

... if there's a call back to piss-cup in episode three I'll be very impressed.

RosyLovelady - 28 Aug 2017 09:00:20 (#15 of 220)

It's about two mis-spelled birds.

Verdigris - 28 Aug 2017 09:15:17 (#16 of 220)

Shag Butcherbird. Perhaps he's the perp?

browserbutton - 28 Aug 2017 10:00:05 (#17 of 220)

It was a bit dull really. Still, the second episode is on tonight, so maybe things will hot up. I think he'll strike someone with that artificial leg!

carterbrandon - 28 Aug 2017 10:09:50 (#18 of 220)

#15: No, it's about jet aircraft hazards.

carterbrandon - 28 Aug 2017 10:11:52 (#19 of 220)

#17: Where's my controversy about famous actors cripping up, and the non-casting of disabled actors. I want it now!

"Where is he?"

"Who?"

You wouldn't say "who?" there would you, it's his office and you work for him.
