Red Dwarf!

New series - discuss here

FleurDuMal - 12 Oct 2017 21:13:51 (#1 of 14)

Hmmm. Not convinced.

It's cruelty to deceased equines to resume the flogging.

FleurDuMal - 12 Oct 2017 21:23:56 (#3 of 14)

Well yes ...

melpomene - 12 Oct 2017 21:56:31 (#4 of 14)

I was faintly amused by singing shit-hitler

I caught an episode this week where a reverse karma force saw the machines of an abandoned spaceship attack people who were nice to each other. It was fairly barmy (isn't it always) but entertaining nonetheless.

SinnerBoy - 13 Oct 2017 14:10:07 (#6 of 14)

I saw it last night. I hadn't even realised that there had been a Series XI... I enjoyed it, but Craigy-Boy needs to lay off the pies.

Arjuna - 13 Oct 2017 14:40:13 (#7 of 14)

Why? Surely it suits the character.

Agaliarept - 13 Oct 2017 14:42:58 (#8 of 14)

Red Dwarf USA pilot anyone?

It's sort of like an extended rumination of the potential of doing don estelle's autobiography in a television sci fi sitcom form.

Which is healthy, I think. In these days of moral and cultural relativism we should all be confronted now and again with something that forces us all to ask the same question: why?

ChankNolen - 13 Oct 2017 19:32:20 (#10 of 14)

It made me smile a couple of times.

SunkenTreasures - 13 Oct 2017 22:46:34 (#11 of 14)

This series and the last one were filmed in one block, so it's like one twelve episode series really. It's well past its best but I still enjoy it. Episode two is on the i player thing.

PolishMark - 15 Oct 2017 19:11:07 (#12 of 14)

It was still better than Series 8, their last proper outing with the Beeb.

For me it's like watching an old band get together for a few retirement gigs. You can enjoy it for the warm nostalgia, and there will be a few thrilling highs, but it will never be as good as before. And that's fine.

thisonehasalittlehat - 15 Oct 2017 19:38:00 (#13 of 14)

They could have something closer in tone to godot. Four now old men waiting for death with any hope of resolution to their plight now a distant memory. There would have been a point to that.

a few? Red Dwarf is the Status Quo of the sitcom world.
