It's on in the background because I am an Alfred Molina fan but nothing is really going in.

Oh Gah. I'll have to do it on catch up.

I just read that his wife (Jill Gascoine, the actress) has been in a care home with Alzheimers for the last two years.

I was just thinking - after a long bout of voiceover - "too much exposition" and then Bette Davis complains about a scene in Baby Jane because of that same reason.

I think you'll both like it.

yumyum - 16 Dec 2017 22:09:46 (#5 of 76)

I should watch it properly really.

There's some fabulous facial expressions.

I've added a couple of Bette Davis films to my watch-list on my streaming service of choice.

Baby Jane is on over Christmas. Can't remember exactly when but it's in the period covered by the Chrimbo Radio Times.

Really enjoyed this. Cracking performances from Sarandon and Lange. I've always liked Sarandon.

I thought it was rather magnificently grotesque.

It’s making rather a hero of Joan Crawford for me.

Arjuna - 17 Dec 2017 09:24:09 (#12 of 76)

so what are they both so cross about?

solomongursky - 17 Dec 2017 09:28:46 (#13 of 76)

'63 Oscars, davis was nominated and would have been the first actress to win 3. Crawford was on a percentage for Baby Jane, Davis' win would have earned her tons of cash but she started a campaign to undermine Davis and even phoned nominees to offer to accept on their behalf. Crawford's campaign worked, Davis lost to Anne Bancroft and Crawford stepped up to accept the award on her behalf.

HouseOfLametta - 17 Dec 2017 09:43:11 (#14 of 76)

so what are they both so cross about?

EVERYTHING!

RosyLovelady - 17 Dec 2017 09:44:46 (#15 of 76)

Was it the drugs?

ChankNolen - 17 Dec 2017 09:56:21 (#16 of 76)

I'm struggling with the casting: for me the actresses are the wrong way round.

HouseOfLametta - 17 Dec 2017 10:03:24 (#17 of 76)

I thought that. I would struggle to match them from a line up, but that’s sort of part of it.

Arjuna - 17 Dec 2017 10:53:27 (#18 of 76)

perhaps someone in casting gave them the wrong scripts and name badges then didn't wantto fess up.

TommyDCMBR8 - 17 Dec 2017 11:25:57 (#19 of 76)

I just read that his wife (Jill Gascoine, the actress) has been in a care home with Alzheimers for the last two years.

It must be nearer three; I'm sure Molina said two last Christmas.

I C&P'd from wiki and didn't check when it was posted.
