Who is America?

“Yup – we were duped. Ya’ got me, Sacha. Feel better now? I join a long list of American public personalities who have fallen victim to the evil, exploitive, sick ‘humor’ of the British ‘comedian’”

Sarah Palin promoting Sacha Baron Cohen's new show

Who is America?

They're a 70s US West Coast rock band, nice harmonies, a bit like Crosby Stills and Nash. Don't remember Sarah Palin being a member.

Jacob_Richter - 11 Jul 2018 12:40:36 (#2 of 52)

God they were shit.

“heavily disguised himself as a disabled US veteran, fake wheelchair and all”

I reckon the wheelchair wasn't fake at all, I bet it was a real wheelchair.

evil, exploitive, sick ‘humor’ of the British ‘comedian’

aka catching you off-guard

tasselhoff - 11 Jul 2018 12:45:28 (#6 of 52)

actually, it does seem a tad ott

SheikYerbouti - 11 Jul 2018 12:45:30 (#7 of 52)

I expect the crossover between Sarah Palin fans and SBC fans is pretty microscopic. So the former get to STPWR on the Internet and the latter get to feel clever while the world crumbles beneath their feet, and everyone is happy.

Palin also claimed that once the interview had ended, the show’s producers purposely dropped her and her daughter off at the wrong airport, knowing that they would be unable to catch a flight back to Alaska, and refused to assist the pair in getting home.

How does this work? Presumably she had return tickets. She cut the interview early so wouldn’t have missed it. She must know Washington well enough to know where she was going. Why was her daughter even there?

emorobot - 11 Jul 2018 12:45:52 (#9 of 52)

I get the impression that he is a bit of a douchebag, but quite funny. Palin should toughen up, whatever happened to that famous rightwing rugged individualism?

Matt Drudge: "Sacha Baron Cohen at it again... BEWARE!"

I think the programme is probably 'in the can' by now, Matt.

Sarah is displaying her anti-Washington credentials by not knowing there are two airports, only the liberal elite know that sort of thing

Jacob_Richter - 11 Jul 2018 12:51:55 (#12 of 52)

What a snowflake.

TRaney - 11 Jul 2018 12:57:21 (#13 of 52)

Foreign commentaries!

by not knowing there are two airports, only the liberal elite know that sort of thing

In reality, Washington, DC, has three airports.

Only the "well-connected" can be expected to know that, of course!

I, for one, look forward to noted fuckwit, Sarah Palin, behaving in a fuckwitted manner.

SheikYerbouti - 11 Jul 2018 15:23:06 (#16 of 52)

capering about, hopefully.

AdrianNTierney - 11 Jul 2018 15:49:38 (#17 of 52)

Certainly to be expected, if not looked forward to.

I would like to believe SBC is returning to form but seems unlikely that he can dupe so many people in the same way.

Catspyjamas17 - 11 Jul 2018 16:31:03 (#19 of 52)

I have to say I'm not quite comfortable with the "duping" aspect and speaks of someone just a little bit too pleased with themselves and their power games. It's not cricket. Louis Theroux had no problem getting people to be their loathsome selves by just being himself.

SheikYerbouti - 11 Jul 2018 16:33:08 (#20 of 52)

I dunno, I always hark back to Chris Morris and his Nonce Sense. If you can get celebrities to go on the telly and make themselves look like the know nothing cunts they are, so much the better.
