Tagyourit - 13 Aug 2018 09:26:58 (#2 of 3535)

Can't say I've heard of her.

Rendered - 13 Aug 2018 09:28:45 (#3 of 3535)

Sister of the more famous Maris.

Agaliarept - 13 Aug 2018 09:30:58 (#4 of 3535)

Can't say I've heard of her.

Charity ambassador and campaigner. Victim of acid attack.

Arjuna - 13 Aug 2018 09:36:31 (#5 of 3535)

I had to google her, remember the acid attack but didn't know she had a career in the media.

Agaliarept - 13 Aug 2018 09:40:21 (#6 of 3535)

but didn't know she had a career in the media.

She's in the papers quite a lot. I'm possibly not aware of her media career either.

Peacock - 13 Aug 2018 09:41:45 (#7 of 3535)

Crossing my fingers for Lizzie Cundy, super celeb

Arjuna - 13 Aug 2018 11:41:11 (#8 of 3535)

Apparently they desperate this year as so many slebs have turned them down due to THE CURSE OF STRICTLY

Impedimenta - 13 Aug 2018 11:52:20 (#9 of 3535)

I like Katie Piper, and have seen her in several programmes. The fact that she says she has no natural rhythm doesn't inspire confidence, but I'm sure she'll be a game contestant.

And no Brendan. Bliss!

mancurse - 13 Aug 2018 14:16:36 (#10 of 3535)

I absolutely love Katie Piper, and she will have to be an absolutely awful dancer for me not to vote for her. I cried and cried at that documentary about her acid attack and pursuit of justice.

Tenesmus - 13 Aug 2018 14:45:05 (#11 of 3535)

I watched quite a lot of TV shows presented by Ms Piper, mostly late at night about people who want to change their appearance in one way or another. She's very good at it.

Now there was something attributed to her that put me off a bit, can't remember what it was now.

mancurse - 13 Aug 2018 14:46:20 (#12 of 3535)

Don't tell me she's a Tory...? Or a Brexiter???

solomongursky - 13 Aug 2018 14:52:33 (#13 of 3535)

How can you tell if someone has no natural rhythm?

Tenesmus - 13 Aug 2018 14:55:08 (#14 of 3535)

If you don't know much about Katie Piper this could help. You may find it upsetting. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2012/jun/

Someone unable to clap in time to a rhythm - as Katie Piper has admitted today - is a reasonable sign that they have no sense of rhythm.

The British do seem spectaculrly bad at clapping along in time to the music.

carterbrandon - 13 Aug 2018 15:45:00 (#16 of 3535)

Clapping on 1 and 3 after there's been so many decades of rock and roll does tend to back up that 'land without music' jibe.

There's a wonderful Youtube clip of Harry Connick Jr ingeniously sneaking half a bar into a piano break to trick the audience into clapping properly on 2 and 4. In the background you can see the drummer punching the air with delight.

If I was a betting man thingy of Steps would be a good bet for winning. She can obviously dance what with her background and also she was a member of the gayest band in history which will appeal to a certain demographic of Strictly voting public.

AshburtonAbove - 13 Aug 2018 19:53:22 (#19 of 3535)

Not that I ever watch it.

helbel - 13 Aug 2018 19:58:33 (#20 of 3535)

Yes I can imagine Faye Tozer went to stage school. Looking forward to seeing Danny John Jules too.
