Agaliarept - 08 Jan 2019 14:51:08 (#1 of 74)

Get enough Brexit nonsense on here without filling my evenings watching it on tv too.

widenation - 08 Jan 2019 14:56:30 (#2 of 74)

Recorded it, but saw bits and pieces. From what I saw it looked pretty well-cast, and entertaining. Plenty of signifiers, like black barbour jacket = leaver, Fred Perry polo shirt = racist - so perhaps a little oversimplified.

Rendered - 08 Jan 2019 14:58:23 (#3 of 74)

Sorry, I was watching a programme about the World War II North Africa campaign.

BenSawbridg - 08 Jan 2019 15:03:55 (#4 of 74)

According to someone in the Guardian it wasn't mean enough about Bozza or Govey and therefore was Not Correct.

I have not watched it however.

carterbrandon - 08 Jan 2019 15:04:07 (#5 of 74)

#3: The Full Monty, it was called. Unexpectedly full of naked Northerners.

Rendered - 08 Jan 2019 15:07:55 (#6 of 74)

I was vaguely aware of this programme though thanks to the two or three hundred articles about it in the Guardian.

BenSawbridg - 08 Jan 2019 15:09:11 (#7 of 74)

Cunterbrick Bandersnatch!

moto748 - 08 Jan 2019 15:15:31 (#8 of 74)

Yo still have the option of watching it if you want, Rendered. Personally, I thought it was well worth seeing, and better than I expected. Most posters here seem to agree, judging from comments on the Nightmare thread.

BenSawbridg - 08 Jan 2019 15:17:09 (#9 of 74)

Most posters are mad and best disregarded.

BenSawbridg - 08 Jan 2019 15:17:57 (#10 of 74)

Especially on the br*xit threads.

browserbutton - 08 Jan 2019 15:18:06 (#11 of 74)

The Brexit bus in the fillum didn't have the correct number of wheels, ffs.

breakfast - 08 Jan 2019 15:20:18 (#12 of 74)

BC was very good as The Disruptor. Apart from Craig Oliver all the other parts were caricatures. BoJo and Gove are portrayed as cartoonish puppets with Cummings - the mad genius! - pulling the strings. So you get complaints from both sides about BJ and MG - either their evil complicity or accomplished politicianyness was left out.

sympforthedevil - 08 Jan 2019 15:21:41 (#13 of 74)

I thought that it was a really unhelpful thing to put out at this particular moment in time. I'd imagine that it will piss off most leave voters, trying to drive home the point about the masses being completely manipulated by the Machievellian Leave campaign organisers.

Hilary - 08 Jan 2019 15:23:14 (#14 of 74)

Unhelpful for whom?

breakfast - 08 Jan 2019 15:23:56 (#15 of 74)

Here is Cummings the mad genius giving his Leave victory speech for real

moto748 - 08 Jan 2019 15:24:59 (#16 of 74)

Gove wasn't featured that much, but the portrait of Boris didn't look far off the mark to me. I recall he did look completely nonplussed that morning when the result came in; he had nothing to say at all.

sympforthedevil - 08 Jan 2019 15:27:19 (#17 of 74)

Unhelpful for the situation we are in where the issue of how or even if the UK is going to leave is still up in the air and there is the possibility of a 2nd referendum.

But, if I'm being honest, I should say unhelpful to the committed remainers like myself, who don't want to see leave voters being needlessly antagonised at this crucial juncture.

carterbrandon - 08 Jan 2019 15:29:11 (#18 of 74)

Not so much nonplussed as appalled and terrified. The actor playing him was doing a 5 when he should have dialled it up to 9. In fact it's be interesting to know specifically what he's drawn on since, to lose that fear.

moto748 - 08 Jan 2019 15:32:30 (#19 of 74)

Cumberbatch was doing enough dialling it up to 9 for the entire cast.

breakfast - 08 Jan 2019 15:34:36 (#20 of 74)

#16 You got the hint that he didn't really want to win it but the programme suggested that he had very little influence over anything. Whereas we know of the significance of his part at the front of the campaign. He knows how to play to his audience. He knew all about the voters Cummings was targeting. It's just he was hoping Leave would get 48%.
