Albert Finney, R.I.P.

Sad day. One of the greats.

What do you remember him in?

Favourites, in no particular order:

Saturday Night and Sunday Morning

The Entertainer

Charlie Bubbles

Gumshoe

The Dresser

solomongursky - 08 Feb 2019 15:02:41 (#2 of 66)

Worst accent in a Bond film ever, including Connery.

solomongursky - 08 Feb 2019 15:03:21 (#3 of 66)

One For The Road is rather sweet, he and Hepburn made a realistic couple.

I vaguely recall seeing him on stage in The Woman in Black in Bristol.

That is my Albert Finney story.

The Singing Detective

Cold Lazerus

Karaoke and Cold Lazarus were the two Dennis Potters he was in.

Shadrack22 - 08 Feb 2019 15:07:03 (#7 of 66)

Yes, should have added The Singing Detective (was thinking of cinema roles).

Rendered - 08 Feb 2019 15:10:03 (#8 of 66)

He's not in The Singing Detective!

Rendered - 08 Feb 2019 15:10:23 (#9 of 66)

Y'all are thinking of Gambon.

solomongursky - 08 Feb 2019 15:11:05 (#10 of 66)

Gumshoe?

TRaney - 08 Feb 2019 15:11:10 (#11 of 66)

He's not in The Singing Detective!

He is. Mingloss changed it by the power of his optimism alone.

TRaney - 08 Feb 2019 15:12:16 (#12 of 66)

Murder on the Orient Express!

WibbleAgain - 08 Feb 2019 15:12:45 (#13 of 66)

In no particular order:

Tom Jones, Two for the Road, The Dresser, Churchill (or whatever the film was called), Erin Brockovich, and some Poirot thing (can't remember which), A Very English Marriage.

TRaney - 08 Feb 2019 15:13:45 (#14 of 66)

Did he roll around with Alan Bates?

solomongursky - 08 Feb 2019 15:14:36 (#15 of 66)

That was Oliver Reed.

WibbleAgain - 08 Feb 2019 15:15:04 (#16 of 66)

What are you two talking about?

DonkeyOT - 08 Feb 2019 15:16:40 (#17 of 66)

He was embarrassingly, cringingly awful as Poirot in "Murder on the Orient Express", as he was in many roles.

I'm not an admirer I have to say, he was bumbling mumbler; I never got what all the fuss was about with him

WibbleAgain - 08 Feb 2019 15:18:03 (#18 of 66)

He was brilliant in The Dresser. I liked him in Erin Brockovich too, but he was just playing himself in that.

That's got nothing to do with Albert Finney.
