I am watching 13th tonight.

Shadrack22 - 26 Jul 2020 19:03:55 (#2 of 20)

Is there a list?

bossab2 - 26 Jul 2020 19:13:00 (#3 of 20)

Contagion is a good place to start.

jamalade - 26 Jul 2020 19:17:08 (#4 of 20)

Arrgggg!!!

Sorry

bossab2 - 26 Jul 2020 19:18:49 (#5 of 20)

Clearly a bug got in there somewhere.

bossab2 - 26 Jul 2020 19:23:51 (#6 of 20)

Its a list posted by someone on their first job who has little perspective.

Something about Thatcher is a given since she blew up the post war consensus, and doesn't even get mentioned in history at school.

Message sent to amend the OP or delete and ban!!!

nemo75 - 26 Jul 2020 20:15:07 (#8 of 20)

Oooh lovely. Thanks.

lammaMia - 26 Jul 2020 21:43:48 (#9 of 20)

one day we’ll watch this as a reminder of where she started

It isn't just a list that about explaining the world but its last line predicts the future of politicians too.

jamalade - 26 Jul 2020 22:07:37 (#10 of 20)

Thank you mods!

I am going to watch 13th later.

bossab2 - 26 Jul 2020 22:08:12 (#11 of 20)

The current generation should watch Threads.

That'll give em nightmares.

widenation - 26 Jul 2020 22:13:04 (#12 of 20)

Netflix's Get Me Roger Stone (2017) probably isn't in the same league as some on the list - but explains a lot about why US politics is so terminally f**ked up.

lammaMia - 26 Jul 2020 22:14:19 (#13 of 20)

It is as good as many on the list and better than some others.

widenation - 26 Jul 2020 22:18:56 (#14 of 20)

I 'enjoyed' it anyway.

Zugunruhe1 - 26 Jul 2020 22:28:12 (#15 of 20)

Threads was terrifying at the time, but that's the thing though. It was of its time. The breakdown of Strategic Arms Limitation talks and the escalation of the nuclear arms race. Cruise and Pershing missiles. Protect and Survive pamphlets through every door. East/West on a permanent near-war footing and on the TV news every evening.

Todays main 'end of the world' concern is the climate change crisis.

jamalade - 27 Jul 2020 00:35:58 (#16 of 20)

I agree. It was of its time.

jamalade - 27 Jul 2020 00:36:54 (#17 of 20)

Get Me Roger Stone

I haven't seen this one wide. Still worth a punt?

widenation - 27 Jul 2020 01:09:08 (#18 of 20)

Yep definitely. It's quite compelling, despite much of it being being presented boastfully by the subject himself. The level of skulduggery is quite astonishing.

jamalade - 27 Jul 2020 01:42:53 (#19 of 20)

Thank you. The idea of watching that weasel is nauseating though. Will check out.

Garden - 27 Jul 2020 02:30:09 (#20 of 20)

We watched it, and as much as I loathe Roger Stone I didn't regret watching it.

MrG watched Tiger King, it was just silly reality show BS as far as I could tell.

Several friends have recommended the AOC documentary in the past few days.

Thanks for the link, Jama!
