TOTP1990- Cos years that end with a zero are always superfun!

Should be a clear run this time.

No Yewtree-y presenters left, far as I know...

Yeah, started a new thread.

Anyone still watching, I wonder...

1990. I moved to London. Worked in the student bar at LSE and the jukebox was all Soupdragons, Charlatans, Lightning Seeds.

I spent a lot of time at indie discos dancing to songs that were undanceable to.

Elton's Sac-uh-ruh-fiy-i-ice. Bollocks.

Kylie, previously a sexless muppet, suddenly becomes calendar girl year in year out in my pathetic lad cave.

Never saw The Mondays live. Did see Shaun do a DJ set in Derry many years later though. He turned up so late rumours were circulating (and being believed) that he had died. Finally showed up obviously utterly mashed out of his skull. Ah well, fun was had.

She was never a sexless muppet and I thought sexy Kylie was born later after she dated Michael Hutchense and he fed her loads of drucks?

In 1990 she was still a Neighbours car mechanic, although already had a following in my student house.

I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky

I think Better The Devil was when I had my Good Heaven Miss Sakamoto, You're Beautiful! moment.

Spinning Around video with the hotpants in 2000 was when the media started to call her sex bomb etc.

MorrisMitchener - 02 Oct 2020 21:06:07 (#10 of 75)

Adamski is looking well and not at all batshit crazy.

Orbital are a hoot on The Story of 1990. They really were doing sweet Fanny Adams to cover up the fact that they were hating every second of the TOTP experience.

AdonisBlue - 02 Oct 2020 21:20:26 (#12 of 75)

Ooo Chime and Killer, I must watch this later.

StakludKar - 02 Oct 2020 21:20:42 (#13 of 75)

Oh it's started!

MorrisMitchener - 02 Oct 2020 21:22:15 (#14 of 75)

Why did everyone get so upset about Milli Vanilli not being on their record? If you liked the sound of it, who cares?

If you had a sweater that said it was made in Bangladesh and it was, in fact, made in Pakistan you wouldn't care would you?

....so... oh, I dunno..

champagnerocker - 02 Oct 2020 21:23:58 (#15 of 75)

The first time I had any sexual thoughts about Kylie would have been seeing her flashing suspenders on the "word is out" video.

Still didn't really fancy her mind you.

I do remember very clearly being in a snooker hall in 2000 and seeing the spinning around video come on the TVs around the room. We all stopped playing for 3 minutes for that.

#Milli Vanilli, I loved them too. Who cares if they didn't sing, hey, they looked good.

StakludKar - 02 Oct 2020 21:36:00 (#18 of 75)

Oh lindy Layton was better than Betty Boo

MorrisMitchener - 02 Oct 2020 21:38:36 (#19 of 75)

Beats International record couldn't really fail. Guns of Brixton meets Just Be Good To Me. Of course it's fucking brilliant!

MorrisMitchener - 02 Oct 2020 21:53:11 (#20 of 75)

MC Tunes is fun, nice to see these forgotten pop stars get their little bit of fame again on this. Looks like he'd do you some bang on double double good loft insulation for you these days.
