Mercy Muroki joins Andrew Neil, Gloria del Piero and Alastair Stewart at new channel:

cozzer - 24 Apr 2021 12:21:30 (#2 of 44)

Are they not going to be covering Northern Ireland?

Electro2 - 24 Apr 2021 12:23:49 (#3 of 44)

Only the coast!

Sunfish - 24 Apr 2021 12:54:00 (#4 of 44)

Ah yes, Neil Oliver has been hired too:

In its press release, GB News said the move marked a “further move towards news commentary” for the Coast presenter.

Commenting on joining GB News, Oliver said:

"My career has always been driven by my fascination about people, whether it's trying to understand ancient people through archaeology or living ones through journalism.

“Debate in this country has been stifled for so long that GB News feels like opening a window and letting some fresh air, fresh perspectives and fresh voices.

"I never imagined my career would take this turn but I'm hugely excited that it has."

Are they not going to be covering Northern Ireland?

That's the kind of nitpicking pedantry there'll be no place for on GB News. You know what they mean!

solomongursky - 24 Apr 2021 12:56:41 (#6 of 44)

Twice - convicted drunk driver Alastair Stewart is on board!

TRaney - 24 Apr 2021 12:59:22 (#7 of 44)

Give the guy a break. Who amongst us hasn't got behind the wheel a little worse for wear on occasion? Just bad luck he got nicked.

“GB News is a massive undertaking in a fiercely competitive market but we’re confident there’s an appetite for a fresh approach to news in Britain, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland,” Chairman Andrew Neil said.

FGBFGB - 24 Apr 2021 13:06:03 (#9 of 44)

I'm sure the name will go down amazingly over the water.

Arjuna - 24 Apr 2021 13:07:43 (#10 of 44)

Perhaps GB just stands for Gammon Bullshit

breakfast - 24 Apr 2021 13:15:24 (#11 of 44)

Debate has been stifled in this country for so long I’ve not heard any discussions about immigration, free speech, avocados or anything.

breakfast - 24 Apr 2021 13:16:46 (#12 of 44)

And never a flicker about our membership of the EU.

FleurDuMal - 24 Apr 2021 13:17:02 (#13 of 44)

Neil Oliver really is a colossal knobhead.

solomongursky - 24 Apr 2021 13:37:31 (#14 of 44)

Popbitch on Alastair Stewart:

At London Tonight in the 90s, it wasn't unheard of that he would have to be locked in his dressing room because he was too hammered to read the news at all, let alone on camera.

And on one overseas trip, he got so wrecked at dinner he spent the entire journey back to his hotel vomiting. One of the crew with him was an old roadie who claimed he hadn't seen anyone that fucked since his days touring with Joe Cocker in the 60s "...and he had an arm full of heroin."

OldLefty - 24 Apr 2021 14:33:10 (#15 of 44)

Amateur. Reggie Bosanquet got better the more pissed he was.

TommyDGNR8 - 24 Apr 2021 14:43:44 (#16 of 44)

Oh Bosanquet, why did you go away?

ReverendBlueJeans - 24 Apr 2021 14:47:35 (#17 of 44)

I abhor alcohol. Yet I'd watch Drunk News.

Let's pitch it.

TommyDGNR8 - 24 Apr 2021 14:58:33 (#18 of 44)

Have you caught any Drunk History, Knoxy? Occassionally brilliant.

frantastic - 24 Apr 2021 16:36:35 (#19 of 44)

Comment below the Oliver tweet, ‘Great addition to a Stella team’.

1MELSM - 24 Apr 2021 16:36:36 (#20 of 44)

Is it to watch, or to listen to? Whatever, I'll give it a go. The media scene needs such developments. Though it does mean someone somewhere is losing readers, viewers or listeners, all in the cause of wider choice and followers they can't keep hold of.
