New model house

Come and smize here

foxybrown - 27 Mar 2021 14:17:26 (#921 of 967)

God bless lockdown because I wouldn't be sitting here otherwise.

foxybrown - 27 Mar 2021 14:18:48 (#922 of 967)

I look forward to your critique Kitty

Did you see the new PR with Christian Siriano? I don't think they showed it over here

KittyKarateRedux - 29 Mar 2021 12:54:50 (#923 of 967)

I haven't seen any new PR as they ended up streaming on Hayu, and I'm already paying for far too many streaming services.

So, I watched 2 episodes of the Netflix Next in Fashion. I'm mostly in for it. Things I wasn't sure on- the bad blind date teams vs people who know each other already. Not sure that it's very fair. I hope they split the teams soon, so those who cannot sew are exposed. I felt particularly sorry for the teams eliminated in the first 2 episodes, as they seemed like clever/good people torpedoed by raging egos who were unwilling to listen.

- The haberdashery cupboard, I love the stress of shopping in Mood and just having everything there feels too 'easy'.

I didn't mind the presenters, though I find Alexa a bit bland. (and blimey - how thin are her legs in episode 1?).

I did think the quality of designs produced so far are so much more polished than in Project Runway, where they had to hide the glue guns in the end.

foxybrown - 29 Mar 2021 16:39:49 (#924 of 967)

Yes I thought the Teams thing was very unfair but missed how they chose their partners, did they know each other prior to the show.

I finished the lot, I like it (unsurprisingly as its a near copy of PR!) apart from the presenters. Too irritating. It was not picked up for a second series

foxybrown - 29 Mar 2021 16:42:13 (#925 of 967)

my daughter and I were gagging at Alexa's legs in ep1 and my daughter said thank god she's covered them, when she wore trousers in ep2 - she's very cruel

foxybrown - 29 Mar 2021 16:42:59 (#926 of 967)

And bad news- they don't split the teams soon

Tenesmus - 29 Mar 2021 16:57:05 (#927 of 967)

Is there anything like this on normal space telly? I get bonus points for finding this sort of thing.

KittyKarateRedux - 29 Mar 2021 17:24:39 (#928 of 967)

Yes I thought the Teams thing was very unfair but missed how they chose their partners, did they know each other prior to the show.

It seemed to be a bit odd - some people clearly knew each other outside the show 'No-Doubt boys' 'dragon princess' 'streetwear ladies'.

I don't know how they matched the rest up, maybe it was like a designer tindr thing or the producers just went "meh, they both went to st martins, that'll do". In theory - they seem to have done the teams so you get a mix of skills in the teams when they matched them up e.g menswear vs womenswear, ideas design versus hands on sewing.

Is there anything like this on normal space telly?

Sadly not that I can think of, it's all sitting on streaming services.

Amazon did one called Making the Cut with Timm and Heidi.Project Runway is on Hayu or something similar

However, I'm totally in for the BBC2 jewellery making thing, as it's my type of thing

foxybrown - 29 Mar 2021 23:17:57 (#930 of 967)

I don't know of the jewellery making thing

KittyKarateRedux - 30 Mar 2021 09:23:28 (#931 of 967)

It's called "All that glitters" and is probably going to be more Sewing Bee than Project Runway in terms of gloss and budget.

It's not on yet, just trailering for starting in 'Spring'. I am worried about the presenter, Katerine Ryan as she does my tits on other shows. Then again, I was mostly wrong about Sarah Cox on Pottery Throwdown, so maybe she'll be ok.

Tenesmus - 30 Mar 2021 09:27:25 (#932 of 967)

They trailered a new Sewing Bee "coming soon".

foxybrown - 30 Mar 2021 22:38:07 (#933 of 967)

Katherine Ryan? sorry count me out. I can't stand her. I can't even attempt

KittyKarateRedux - 06 Apr 2021 15:33:26 (#934 of 967)

I'm excited for the return of Sewing Bee. Even though every show I'm shamed by how slow I am at sewing - there is no way I could make up an outfit in a few hours.

So I've just got as far as episode 7 in Next in Fashion. Shit's getting real now! It was obvious when they split the teams that who would be one of the first eliminated - how on earth was he working in fashion without even basic sewing or fitting skills? I was SHOCKED by how skinny beefy thighed Charles was before he started lifting weights. Though I was very surprised he'd been able to pile on that much beef - his body type looked like it was more suited to the Iggy Pop 'vascular' look.

I didn't get the way the guest judge reacted to the possible elimination in Episode 4 'Streetwear'. I didn't think the look was that good (it felt a bit 80s spandau ballet goes to the thunderdome) but he seemed to like it, at least at a distance. I mean, I know big brands rip off smaller designers (constantly!) but it felt like his feelings about that were causing him to protect the wrong people.

DejaLu - 06 Apr 2021 15:43:47 (#935 of 967)

When’s Sewing Bee back? I was just thinking it felt about the right time.

KittyKarateRedux - 06 Apr 2021 15:49:06 (#936 of 967)

14th April I think for Sewing Bee .

DejaLu - 06 Apr 2021 16:32:49 (#937 of 967)

Yay! Thanks

foxybrown - 06 Apr 2021 19:15:46 (#938 of 967)

I think that guy did not want to be the one to throw off the black women, is that the episode you mean? I knew very little names, apart from the winner.

KittyKarateRedux - 07 Apr 2021 11:56:10 (#939 of 967)

Yes - that's the episode I meant. I thought he let his emotions blind him completely. I mean, it wasn't as bad as a thirsty Michael Kors on Project Runway, as at least it was only a guest.

KittyKarateRedux - 15 Apr 2021 11:33:46 (#940 of 967)

Finished Latest in Fashion. I really enjoyed it, in the end, especially once they split the pairs. Shame they aren't doing any more series it seems. I thought the correct person won the final, while the other person's stuff was fine, I just thought the other one took the opportunity to push themselves further than their normal label. So lovely seeing the families show up.

Watched the Jewellry one - meh. They haven't got the format right, should have had 2 or 3 fewer contestants, and did a lot more 'silver smithing for dummies' for the audience. Half the joy of a skills based reality show is for you to develop a blaggers guide to the craft, so you can go "What? Canister damascus without using tip-ex on the inside? Oooh he's asking for trouble" (might have started watching Forged in Fire again). The judges need to unclench a lot, especially Solange. Maybe she was not enjoying having to be around Katherine Ryan, which is totally understandable.

Glow Up returns next week, new host as Stacey is off doing something else. It appears that Ding Dong is back though sadly.
